to profile or not to profie

people of some groups get so  upset about police profiling to capture suspects in a crime. If there is and arrest and it is related to terrorism and the police arrest a man of arabic descent or of Muslim religion the civil liberies groups come out of the woodwork and threaten lawsuits on behalf of the suspect

this subject is easily argued if you take the human factor out of the equation

lets say the police chief " Soy Bean", the Cheif of Police for  "Soy Bean Field" is presented with a crime in the community. Some "one" has spread ragweed seed all about the community and now ragweeds are sprouting up everywhere in the commuity 6" tall  already. Police chief "Soy Bean" is now presented with the task of finding out "who" would do such a thing in his community. Police chief "Soy Bean" goes out and rounds up some suspects. One suspect is a big old Sunflower, he is questioned and let go because it just would not make sense that a Sunflower would have done such a thing. After all he is a Sunflower and and would not he able to spread Ragweed seeds. Good deductive reasoning by Police chief "Soy Bean". On his way back to the station police chief "Soy Bean" sees new suspect. To him this suspect fits the bill, He is a Ragwwed standing tall in the field. He is very tall Ragweed at 2'6" so the police chief hauls him in for questioning. . While questioning the suspect the news gets out to the local "main stream soy bean media". The "SBCLU" (Soy Bean Civil Liberties Union) hears this and rushes downtown to file a lawsuit on behalf of the Ragweed in "soy bean court". The lawsuit being filed bcause police chief "Soy Bean" had no other evidence of his guilt other that he was the ONLY fully grown ragweed in the field.... The SBCLU threatens to sue the Police force into bankruptcy forcing the not well funded police departments lawyers to force police chief " Soy Bean" to release the suspect.

Sound familiar it happens all the time in the human realm right here in the good ole USA

Being a former law enforcement officer, Profiling is a most needed Tool. Without it, see what happens in a short period of time, uder self collapse under stupid people.

I have friends in LE and they all tell me that they profile, it would be ridiculous not to. it is unreasonable to think that LE should be blind to things that are relative to solving a crime.

All these factions of groups that want controle over people are using all different issues to controle us. Just like Hillary with her village, we have the ACLU with anything from Gay rights, to illegals. Im so sick of this liberal agenda. So many people have given their thinking to the village. I wish people would stand back and consider the cost beyond what the ACLU tells them. Just because they quote the word orientation, people assume its in the constitution. People need to study for themselves. I agree with you all, profiling is common sense. And there is a faction in the country trying to block us from enforcing our laws to controle us and tear down our constitution.

In L.A. you can't help BUT profile.  The majority of the crime here is from illegal latino gang members. 

But that brings up another corrupt breakdown in our judicial system with Special Order 40.  SO40 is crippling this city and has had NO positive impact in the deterrence of crime here.  Special Order 40 prevents the police from determining whether or not a criminal is illegal because the mayor, Vivalaraza Vilagrosa, city officials, all of them mexican mafia and La Raza, and Chief Bratton don't want to scare any witnesses to crimes away or have them deproted in the event they have a change of heart and decide to snitch on their fellow gangies. 

It's a well documented fact that latino's don't snitch on latinos.  They protect eachother.  So why have the SO40 in place?  NO GOOD reason.

Police agencies have always profiled. It's just been called something different. Profile sounds ominous and buzzwords are the big thing these days.

When I was a cop, retiring in 1988, after a crime, we looked at suspects. John Doe, John Smith, etc. The crime fit their MO. Same thing, just expanded now. Without being able to link a suspect to an MO, or a profile if you will, the police couldn't do their job.

But, in this day and age some people are more worried about the rights of criminals than the victims. No honest citizen has anything to worry about. We aren't on the police radar, and there's nothing to 'profile.'

You said it my brother.  It goes even deeper than that.  One major reason to keep SO40 around is to allow more bogus personal complaits against officers with in the LAPD. It keeps copers less productive because their worried about their jobs which feeds the family.  make no mistake the Mayor hates the police and so does the police commision.   That why this whole get tough on gangs talk makes me laugh.  Back in the day profiling was just called great police work.  "Racial" Profile is just a lib's label.  We criminaly profile.  If your suspects a hispanic, your not going to jam a white or black guy. come on use commen sence you dumb libs.  Hey Arby I know your out there some where.  Would you care to make us laugh with your nice amusing liberal view.

Even then, consider that a lot off the new Dem congresscreatures are from very conservative states and THEY are conservative.

The dems won the house and senate, but most of the new congressmen and senators aren't liberal. They won the numbers but not the power.

Conservatives are the so-called Silent Majority. Always have been. If they would wake up and start rattling their swords like the libs, you would see a big change in this country.

You see what happens when a large number start complaining in emails, letters, and phone calls over something. The beings who sit in Congress knuckle under.

I have yet to see how racial profiling is racist (as the media likes to claim).  If a Mexican commits a crime, he's still a Mexican.  If a radical Muslim blows himself up in a marketplace, he's still a radical Muslim.

Not to mention that profiling is almost required for statistical purposes.

Profiling is neccessary, in order to do the job. We know there are those who love beuracratic red tape to entangle people in. It actually falls into their plans ultimately. Create the problem and when america screams, come in with the other self and rescue her and controle her panic. Neat and clean. Libs are one self and most so called conservatives are the other self.

Of course not.

So was the goverment justified in rounding up thousands of men of Arab descent after September 11, 2001?

Of course not.

Arby at that time sense most people were white, you could look for the closest thing that connects most of the acts or people that commit those acts. If the connection is racial and its necessary in order to find a needle in a haystack it may save many lives. Those acts should on the other hand be time limitted to what is going on at the time. Like only during that threat. I feel though that this government is actually helping to create and pump up the threat of insecurity. If we would enforce our present laws we wouldnt have this problem.
