Thought you'd be interested in this bill that was introduced into the CALIFORNIA state assembly 2.22.07.  It will criminalize parents who spank their children.  After reading how this would limit a parents rights, contact your legislators and let them know that they should keep their nose out of our homes.  There are already laws that protect children from child abuse.  For more info...

This is ridiculous!!! My dad, on his own, quit wacking my behind when I was in 2nd grade. He said "... you're too old to be spanked anymore..." That was the worst thing he ever did... I knew right from that moment on there were no repercussions for anything I did which I wasn't suppose to. I turned into a renegade at that moment. So please... don't stop wacking thier behinds!!!

I won't be fooled again.

i was born in California then left before 3rd grade..then later in life  followed my parents back out to California and spent last 12 years there now I am out of the state one more time and prob the last....I feel spanking has its purpose and should not be outlawed...just people need  to learn just like anything else should be used in moderation...its when it becomes a tool for abuse is when it should stop...I am glade I am not in California now...if it has not been done yet maybe a petition can be drawn up by the current citizens of California that would counter the  bill the state Government is trying to pass.....I love this Firesociety..its a great tool and gathering place of the minds...to discuse..

Crazy bill alert: Is my mother a “child abuser”?
Disguised as a child-protection bill, Democrat Assemblywoman Sally Lieber's AB 755 equates loving, corrective discipline with hateful, harmful abuse. When Lieber introduced AB 755, which criminalizes parents who use a switch, a spanking stick, a spanking paddle, a belt, or any other spanking implement, I got on the phone to my mother right away. “Mom, you’re a child abuser!” I said jokingly. “You spanked us kids with a stick. And Grandma was a child abuser too – she spanked you with a wooden spoon!”

But my mother was shocked and appalled to hear about AB 755. She said she loved us kids which is why she spanked us to correct us when we were really defiant. She said she used the “spanking stick” because when we repeatedly disobeyed her words, her hand could not cause the corrective sting to our buttocks that the stick did. She reminded me that I was better for those times I deserved a spanking, and I had to agree. “Who do these politicians think they are?” she demanded to know. I hadn’t heard Mom that worked up in a long time.

If you’re disturbed by the thought of good parents being arrested because they occasional spank their defiant children to correct them, please do your part to stop AB 755. Because if you don’t speak up now, a policeman could haul off good parents in handcuffs, then to the courthouse, then to jail and “re-education counseling.”

However, if enough people speak up and FLOOD SACRAMENTO with phone calls, emails and faxes, the Governor and hopefully some Democrat legislators will realize the unpopularity of this outrageous bill. Remember, good parents give both soft love and tough love when needed for the good of their children’s character.

1. MAKE A PHONE CALL: If you haven’t called Sacramento yet, please do it today. And if you’ve already called, ask three friends to call Sacramento. Tell your assemblymember, state senator and Governor Schwarzenegger to “Oppose AB 755. This bill equates loving corrective discipline with hateful, harmful abuse will criminalize many good parents who occasionally spank.”

When did man become wiser then God which recorded in his word "spare the rod and spoil the child". Yes we need moderation. Correction and not abuse but there comes a time when the child must know the difference between what is acceptable and what is not. We are to the place where the law says "thou shalt not honor the Father and thy Mother". We are seing the results in the youth of America. Yes there are many good youth whose parents teach right from wrong but to many who run the family and think they can run the world.

Now that sounds like something Hillary and the village would come up with. The ultimate goal is not just protecting children, its controlling the parents, not just here, all over the world.

Thank God this bad bill was defeated and parents can lovingly raise their children without the government telling them how to do it.

I was a fairly rotten kid growing up. What I mean, is that with my parents, spanking was a rare thing. But then ther was grandma, and my aunts that I spent every summer with until approx 13 years old.

Here is what I learned.

I respected my parents, and did little to require a good ole whipping. The reason this was, was because while spending my summers in a small Oregon farming town, I learned the hard way on right and wrong. The old saying "you do the crime, you do the time". My cousin's and myself were "on the loose" every day there. We did so much mischievious stuff it would make your head spin. BUT, and a big BUT is that when we deserved that willow switch, or hotwheels track, or even grandma's favorite.....a long piece of thin barnwood with that old steel window screen nailed to the end......her flyswatter, we knew what was coming. Sometimes we would take off running, but we still had to come home for dinner! And one of the above items were waiting. Want to eat? Remember what you did this morning? You get the picture.

That taught me very well that when you were bad, you HAD to pay the price. So, when I was home with my parents, I allways wondered what they might do, and allways remembered that tattered, pointy flyswatter. It was a good thing, not abuse at all. It used to be called punishment for doing wrong. Now days, if this happens, you go to jail.

An example of what kids are taught today. This blew my mind when it happened. I was dating this gal who had a 6 year old daughter. This kid was horrible! One night she was told to go upstairs, wash up, then go to bed. She refused, over and over again. I'm sitting there uncomfortable as heck knowing what I would do. Finally, my girlfriend had enough, went halfway up the stairs where this kid was screaming "no", swatted her on the butt. Not even hard enough to hear it. So on the way up the stairs, this kid continued screaming, not crying, but only the one swat mind you. The next thing I heard, was the kid opened the bathroom window, and started to scream "don't hit me, I will tell my teacher!".     Next day? She stayed home from school. I asked why. I was told if she said anything to her teacher, the teacher had the right to look for ANY bruises, ANYWHERE, then make the call herself. Immediate jail time.

If my mom didnt chase me with that razor strap I know I wouldnt have any of the repect for decency that I have now. California is quickly turning into the government test one world. So I guess they need to test some of their one world remedies out on those new hispanic citizens.
