Anchor babies

Years back the when we had the INS they realized that many people from other countries were using our laws against us. They were arranging and paying for marriages to enable them to come here and become citizens. The INS did it's job (what a concept) and started investigating these people and at least making an effort to stop that practice.

So if they could do that then why could they not do something about anchor babies. I know what the Constitution says and I think we need to follow the constitution but that document was written for well intention people, these are not well intentioned and they abuse our laws to run across the border 9 months pregnant, run to the nearest ER and have a baby so that they can stay here. Law enforcement stiffened up on the phoney marriage thing and it'd high time they do the same with the anchor baby situation

I don't understand why all the organizations that are fighting for Americans over the illegal aliens in our country don't have this issue close to the top of their lists....

Another thing I don't understand is why some rich lawyer hasn't filed some kind of suit over this...surely all the lawyers out there aren't as corrupt as our government!

Its very telling that everytime you turn on the TV lately all you see is poor Anna Nicole Smith. Dang and they keep saying the nation wants to know this....this is all the nation cares about....Bull!!!!

Im so sick of smokescreans and sneaky government moves, and hiding amendments and bills. Im so sick of crooked politicians and liars who should really get a job in Hollywood.

Are our politicians the only people in the country that don't see this a an issue that needs to be addressed?...Geez...you'd think that our Congress could give up a little of the time they use to lambast the President and do something about real issues like this..

My wife has been telling me the exact same thing. It's just incredible how spineless our politician have become. Well, they've been spiness forever, just more publicly so lately.

You know zman,you are right about the constitution being written for well intentioned people.The governing of it was also believe to be such a privilage that a leader would do his best to the best of his ability!The law if I remember right was provided for slaves.(the law used for citizenship)

Seems congress feels so secure enough they know the people cant do anything to hurt them. They are getting way too cocky. They are just too busy fighting with each other and putting on a big act. Does anyone actually understand what they watch when you watch that station that shows whats going on in congress.....do they even speak english on there. There seems to be a different language for lawyers and congress and politicians.

I work on the border and the number of mexican parents crossing with numerous anchor babies would absolutely amaze you. They know the system and they use it.

I beleive that Americansfirst. They are not dumb and know a goose that lays golden eggs when they see it. yep, what Bush said will be in my memory till I die. Sometimes money trumps peace. Does that mean it trumps us and our lives too? When Mexico owns our nation will they treat Mexicans here better then us?

You are right. It was the intent of the law to make sure that the slaves, who were freed,after the civil war,would not be denied citizenship. Now that the problem of freed slaves no longer exists, the law should be amended and  babies born to illegal immigrants should not receive automatic citizenship. Unfortunately, the politicians probably won't go for this, because they depend on the Hispanic vote and fear losing some of those people.
