It would be an easy question to answer if there was no controversy and nothing to talk about. But that is ...

The Federal Marriage Amendment is not a conservative position.  Prior to the adoption of the US Constitution, family and personal relationships were a state issue.  This was true at the time of the adoption of the constitution.  Some states allowed women to own property or inherit property, others did not.  Some allowed Freed slaves to own property, others restricted.  The founding fathers left these items to the states.  It is for this reason that the Tenth Amendment exists.

A federal marriage amendment would overturn this constitutional history and involve the federal government in family relationships.  Soon Child Protection, Spousal abuse, divorce and property would all become federal issues.  I can't think of any thing so contrary to the position of the founding fathers.

A federal marriage amendment may be a lot of things, but conservative is not one of them.

Can we as FireSociety members help protect marriage by keeping the CBS show, Swingtown, from airing?  Someone, please help stop this!  Thank you.

Future is Now, you may not see it as a conservative issue, but it needs to be dealt with.  We are a mobile society.  Some homosexuals in CA who get "married" will move out of state and the state to which they move will be forced to recognize this so-called marriage whether they allow it in their state or not.  It is not the same as when slaves could own property in one state but not another.  If they moved somewhere where they couldn't own property, it didn't matter that they had owned property somewhere else.  They weren't allowed to own property in their new state.  Although, I'm sure none of them would have moved to a state that didn't allow them to own property.

"Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle... In this age, there can be no substitute for Christianity... That was the religion of the founders of the republic and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants." Charles Carrol, signer of Declaration of Independence, framer of the Bill of Rights, delegate to the Constitutional Convention, U.S. Senator

It ought to be the disappearing heterosexual marriage problem that is addressed by the conservatives.  It ought to be the divorce rate that is addressed by the conservatives.  It ought to be the problems of keeping a household in this world.  THEIR getting married DOES not effect the divorce rate, the spousal abuse, the failure of young people to even WANT to get married these days.  With the loss of moderate wage jobs and with the extremely high cost of education, how can a person AFFORD to get married these days?  If they do get married, if children do start coming, how are they to pay for the high cost of health care if they don't have a job that offers health care?  Oh, that brings us back to the argument that if you can't afford it, you shouldn't get married.  Young people have heard that argument and they are NOT getting married.  The only marriage rate that hasn't fallen is that of educated professionals.

When the seperation of church & state groups managed to get G-d out of the public schools the Darwins church of atheists quickly moved in. Didn' hear one complaint from the soc&s groups. When 'no-fault' divorces were brought in,no-one cared about the pain of the children. Soon, the pain of the children was passed to 43 million of them who were never allowed to live. Unwed mothers were, also, 'helped'. As long as they had children outside the protection of marriage, they were given 'help.' These 'father-less children were small in numbers, once. Some, races now total 70% of basterized children. It is surpising what a little 'help',can do.

Some advocates of doing nothing, are really supporters of marriage between men and men and women and women. Evidently, they have no respect for the word of G-d,either. Any support to strengthen the bonds are welcome. Don't be fooled-again.

One point that really needs mentioning concerning the Federal Marriage Amendment: a constitutional amendment defining marriage will stop ALL meddling judges from legalizing marriage between 2 men,2 women, and various other combinations. We have seen what happens to our ethics, morality, and the nation when sit on the sidelines and let liberal judges run amuck. Fight back-defend the family-while there's still time. In the days of Noah,G-d judged the peoples of earth, because men-men and women-women marriages were made legal by the nations. Must we wait til the wrath of G-d is upon us AGAIN,before we awake?

I want Swingtown banned also. I would like to sign a petition. I have already submitted a complaint on their website by clicking "feedback". This show is absolutely appalling. My little girl saw the promos because they are airing them all day and all night and have illegal drug use and everything else immoral under the sun and I have my little girl asking me what is a swinger because of cbs. I am so disgusted with them right now.
