Not that I grant any credence to the U.N., but since a great many liberal environmental alarmists seem to, this article about where the U. N. now stands on Gore's fabricated paranoia could be referred to whenever one of them feels the urge to spout.

And why don't these guys save their hundreds of millions of dollars and spend it on cleaning up the problem they insist is real?

As for me, I am confident that the Lord means what He says in Genesis 8:22, "As long as the earth remains, there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night." Believers should stand ON and BY this Word of God and count on it more than on any politician or government. Marc Morano, a spokesperson from the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee minority staff, says the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is scaling back on its previous dire predictions of catastrophic climate change.

 

 

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) says that with each successive report from the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), there is less cause for alarm than previously thought. Morano points out that in the recent 2007 report, man's alleged impact on "global warming" was scaled back by 25 percent while ocean-level rise was also reduced.
 
According to Morano, this is the 13th year that rapid warming has been predicted and advertised in the media by Al Gore and the U.N., but it has failed to occur. "So at some point, they're getting worried -- and now you have record winter in the Northern Hemisphere and record winter in the Southern Hemisphere, [as well as] global cooling to the extent from 2007 to 2008 that was rather significant and surprised a lot of scientists," Morano contends.
 
He also says the U.N. is realizing and acknowledging that there is continually less cause for alarm on the subject.
 
"And now you have a cooling .... [But] NASA scientist James Hansen [is] trying to say 'well, warming will resume soon, but this is just [a] natural factor [with] the ocean circulation,' but the fact of the matter is the head of the U.N. [IPCC] Rajendra Pachauri came out recently and said we have to investigate this apparent temperature plateau," Morano notes.
 
The Senate committee staff member contends Al Gore is currently trying to sidestep the issue.

I find it difficult to believe that we humans are not the cause of environmental problems, present and future. However, the even greater risk is population growth and the inability of the planet to support life with limited fresh water, food and clean air. Population control is not a popular subject (except in China) but I believe that is going to be more and more important as time goes on.

IMO many see the GW debate the way the Council of Nicea looked at the Catholic Church back in the 300s, ie. the Sacred and inspired scriptures are satisfactory in declaring themselves as absolute truth. Just as criticizing the church years ago would invite scorn, so does criticizing the legitimacy of the science today invite scorn. Right now panic must be created to ensure funding. Thousands of jobs hang in the balance. And while I understand a reliance on the IPCC, they are by definition a political body, and it's not unreasonable to contend that their policies are politically 'driven'. 
 
My question is, does CO2 'drive' climate? The contention is that as CO2 increases, so do temperatures. However, there have been times when the CO2 has been 3 to 10 times greater than it is today with no corelative temperature increases. Ice core and climate reconstruction records don't seem to indicate that. The earth was warmer in Chaucer's time, and cooler in the 'Little Ice Age' of the 1600s with no evident relation to CO2. It's my understanding that the oceans are responsible for 100-115 gigatons of CO2 exchange per year. And the forests are responsible for 40 to 50, and with man introducing less that 10% of that contributed by the forests, just how much damage are we doing? In fact man introduces less than the standard deviation of the oceans. Now, With the oceans warming 1 degree since 1960 isn't it reasonable to assume that (I think it's Henry's law?) that there's a greater amt of CO2 being added as a result of this warming? And how long does CO2 remain in the atmosphere?
 
I propose that it's just as reasonable to suggest that it's water vapor that increases warming in the northern hemisphere (southern hemisphere seems to be cooling/Antarctic ice seems to be growing). But up here as woodstock increases, as has been the case for the last 50 years, so have temperatures.

People who look to man as the solution to his own problems have reason to be afraid because they do not know The Reason to "Fear not." Christians who believe in man, as in 'fearing' man, more than they believe and trust in the God Who created and saved us, likewise have reason to 'fear',  BECAUSE they look to man and not to God, and listen to man and not to God, and will suffer the same consequences as and along with God-less mankind.

There is plenty of earth for the population as is and even for growth. The fact that people tend to congregate in concentrations does not mean the earth is 'overpopulated'. The earth would still produce abundantly for all the population if it weren't for the fact that institutions such as man-made governments and man-made corporations, using imaginary money, have taken control of the majority of earth's resources, including agrigultural land and food production, and deliberately underproduce for their own ulterior motives.

There are rich fertile lands that are not being used for food production but lie dormant, or they are converted to industries which over produce goods that are not necessities. Originally, when 'people' produced goods and services, it was for the purpose of providing for the needs of people. With corporations controling production, the purpose is to create mega profits for corporations and poverty and lack for the people.

Anyone who claims to believe that we are created and sustained by an Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent All-Sufficient God, and also believes that our man-made problems are 'accidents' somehow beyond God's ability to curtail or cure, does not realize that it is their own unbelief, due to their own lack of knowledge of God, that creates and empowers the very problems they believe are insurmountable. We cannot believe that 'with God all things are possible' and at the same time believe our problems are impossible to solve.

Christians are the actual cause of all of the corruption that has been engulfing the globe and the problems that are spawned because of corruption. Instead of being 'salt and light', they have been no less 'flesh' than those who are still alone in the world, without hope and without God; those who are still waiting for the sons of God to appear. Christians react to every evil report and rumour that comes their way just as readily as those who don't know God, thereby feeding the rumour and helping to make it reality.

Rather than going into all the world to bring Christ to those who languish in darkness, Christians have gone right back into the world to languish with them. All the lip service we give to Jesus is seen for what it is by those whose only image of Him is in those who claim His Name. Is it any wonder those who do not know Christ want nothing to do with Him when they see Christians fearing and parroting the same things they do as though Jesus were nothing more to them than the vain idols are to pagans. Unbelieving 'believers' make Jesus look impotent to a lost and dying world.

Man will not be permitted to destroy this earth. It belongs to Christ and He will purge it of all that is corrupt and offensive. Right now Christians are writing the prophecies of Revelation as they walk and live in their unbelief, 'playing church' with their false gospels and false Christs to prop up their false sense of righteousness. Take a look at Christ's message to His Own people in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Then read where His people still are in Revelation 18.  

WE are God's solution for man's problems because Christ lives in us, and He would very much like to destroy the works of the devil through us, if only we would remember Whose we are and who we are and stopped living like we're still dead in trespass and sin. But as long as Christians are going to think and talk and act and live like 'mere men', then they will inherit what's coming to 'mere men'.

Gore is not God. Presidents and Prime Ministers and politicians and CEO's are not God. But if you are going to listen to them instead of listening to God; if you are going to react to their manipulations instead of obeying God, then you will fear and rationalize things like abortion and wars and euthanasia and forced sterilization and many other things that are abominations to God. We are only mere human beings so how can we stop NATURE from being NATURE? If there is global warming there will be global warming around the GLOBE not just in America. This Al Gore PANIC is just that: PANIC. MOB mentality of madmen? Every place I know is doing something to clean up the environment but there are still people who throw out their trash along the highways, streets, yards, streams, creeks, rivers, and the ocean, etc. They have NO pride in their home environment, neighborhood, city, county, state or country. Even the trash collectors are careless about collecting the trash. They strew trash instead of putting it ALL in the trucks. It is a hard job but a very worthwhile, needed and honest job to be a trash collector. Each trash collector needs to be thanked for their hard work. They need to step back and see their job well done. Pride in a job well done will make a lot of difference to our environment. Not only with the trash collectors but ALL employment. People have gotten so careless and lazy. We see it everywhere, businesses, hospitals, other health care facilities, etc. Some places really put forth an effort and it is wonderful to do business with them. They are thankful for your business, smile, try to make you feel appreciated and welcome. The AMERICAN way was ' do unto others as you would have others do unto you' now it seems it is ' do to others before others do to you'. Big business, high interest rates that ROB the people. Extremely high prices for everything, even cheap made junk and too much of that. TOO MUCH easy credit. Foreclosures when a little help to get caught up would help. Students are NOT being taught practical lessons of life, economics, economy, budgeting, finances and financial responsibility, work ethics,etc. Why can't students be taught pride in the TRADES for a livlihood, sewing, cooking, home canning, homemaking, tailoring, upholstery, cultivation of the soil,farming, growing gardens, orchards, mechanics, forestry and other environmental jobs, and other practical ways of life? There are MANY 'TRADE ' schools, business 'colleges' one or two years training for medical jobs, and on the job training jobs that are just as important and NEEDED as college graduate jobs. NOT every child can go to college, not every child is college material, not every child can be a politician, a doctor, nurse, a dentist, a lawyer, a scientist, mathmatician, a bookkeeper or accountant, or an anchor person on TV. or an actor or hollywood celebraty, etc. etc. BUT they ALL can learn something to take pride in and be successful. We need to take back the pride of life that was the UNITED STATES of AMERICA's way. We as a nation rallied together at 9-11-2001 but it soon cooled and the enemy was embraced rather than censored. What has happened to our nation? Our country was founded on ONE NATION UNDER GOD with liberty and justice for ALL. But so many of the ALL have immigrated with their own agenda, ideas and government carried with them from nations they were FLEEING FROM. Fleeing to a free nation but bringing with them the old and polluting the new. Like new wine in OLD skins.. it doesn't work and the whole is ruined. OUR country is so torn apart with all the different pagan religions, various languages, etc. and history, if heeded, reveals downfall of nations because of these things. Another thought.    Al Gore wants so much money .. what is it ? 1.2 or 1.3 TRILLION dollars for his global warming agenda scare?   Why can't that money be put to GOOD use to  create jobs to pay students, unemployed people who have lost their jobs for various reasons,  and welfare recipients for WORK to harvest crops and CLEAN UP the environment? Clean up the  streets, highways, back roads, creeks, streams, rivers, lakes, beaches,etc   And how about  creating jobs  to  help folks who are unable to help themselves, like elderly people. For instance,  driving them to doctor appointments, the grocery store, etc.  Wouldn't that be money well spent to help others learn a trade, pay for their education  or help to earn their livlihood  by doing something positive and be successful by doing GOOD even in SMALL ways.?  

 ALSO  a couple of the politicains are crying for  national health care like they have in Canada and Europe...those TRILLIONS of dollars sure would go a long way to help with medical insurance for people who can't afford to pay for medical care and medicines for children, the elderly AND the middle class working people who can't afford medical insurance but have to  PAY for all the worthless spending as well as needed spending.  TAXES have grown to the point of really being a huge burden to the taxpayers . Again I say, LOOK to history to see where this country is headed .. to destruction. Could you please specify for us which 'article' you refer to? I see only one 'article' in this thread, the one titled "U.N. IPCC scales back climate change report", and find no spelling errors in it. If you are referring to comments left by a contributor, please specify which contributor and/or which of their contributions you mean.

Evangelism is an appeal to the unregenerate, unsaved soul. Exhortation is an appeal to the regenerated, saved soul. The 'opponents' of the saved are not the unsaved but, as Scripture tells us, "For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12)

The kind of sparring you suggest, i.e. intellecutal wrangling with the unregenerate, is nothing more than 'shadow boxing', a very 'liberal' waste of time and energy. Christians have been trying to fight the world by the world's rules for most of the last 2000 years. It should be painfully obvious to everyone by now how utterly ineffective we have been at it.

The majority of respectable 'real scientists', not pseudo-politico 'scientists' like Al Gore and David Suzuki, who see trillions of dollars at the end of their fabricated CO2 rainbow, have demonstrated current and historical evidence that what the earth has been going through the last 50 years is typical of patterns it has gone through over the centuries that anyone has been monitoring.

You obviously FEEL very strongly about this non-issue, but you're too light on FACTS to invoke any guilt. Just so you know, we are 'people' here. 'Consumers' is what the lying, thieving, fictitious entities called 'corporations' esteem us as. I suggest you get a group going and start harassing the corportations that produce for profit rather than to supply the needs.
