Candidate Briefing: Mitt Romney on Immigration

Mitt Romney on Immigration He Called Amnesty Plans "Reasonable" But Now Strongly Opposes Summary: Mitt Romney has been accused of flip-flopping on important conservatice issues, one of them being illegal immigration. Much like other candidates his views have gotten increasingly tougher on illegal immigration as the American people have voiced their concerns about the issue. In the recent debates, Romney has taken on the establishment and campaigned that Washington is broken! His rhetoric speaks of the rule of law, of ...

Mitt Romney does have the endorsement from Tom Tancredo.  They spoke for a couple of hours before Tom gave him the endorsement.

After reading about his comments about illegal immigration I am convinced he will strongly enforce the laws.  However, I have a hard time believing Huckabee.  He was such a strong supporter of immigration.  Even weeks ago he said he would let them back in the country after only a few days.

Here is Huckabee talking about his TOUCHBACK AMNESTY:

GO MITT!

Huckabee is not the man to count on to solve the immigration crisis. His past performance shows where he stands. McCain is a Democrat posing as a Republican and that's dangerous. Mitt will deliver what he promises on immigration. He'll see that Congress stops yanking the funding for the fence. The press is down playing his victories because of liberal media bias. Mitt's the man who'll get my vote.

There is not a single candidate out there that I feel comfortable voting for. George JR has so dis-illusioned me by not supporting the will of the people on amnesty, his lack of concern for our economy, and his pushing the Israelis to divide their tiny little country. The only thing he did right was declare war but he screwed that up by not sending enough troops. I don't trust any of my party and I sure don't stand with the Dems. This will be the most divided race in my 49 year history on both sides. The Dems only have 2 candidates to divide them and we have a whole field of bulls@@@@@rs. This great nation is falling. I don't wish kids for my kids, I wish my own didn't have to live through what is still to come, and I am thankful my time is getting shorter. What a glowing reccomendation for the US of A.

Mitt Romney stands out as the clear leader of all the Republican candidates now available and he has been the most outspoken and proactive on doing the right thing regarding eliminating incentives and stopping illegal immigration when he was governor. Romney has a fine family, built fine companies, and been very successful as a governor of a very liberal state. My favorite, Duncan Hunter, never got traction and has withdrawn but my hope is that he can fill the gap in Romney's campaign in the area of national defense experience and the war on terror as Vice President or on the cabinet as Secretary of Defense. I am a huge Border Security advocate who demands of my government to ensure the preservation of our National Sovereignty and the protection of the middle class which is being decimated by the uncontrolled influx of unskilled, uneducated and non-assimilating illegal aliens, primarily from Mexico and central American nations. Huckabee had a strong border enforcement plan but he is out of contention and far too liberal on most fiscal and economic issues. McCain-Kennedy is absolutely unelectable by conservatives like myself who will never forget nor forgive his 'Partnership' with the President, Lindsey Graham, Kennedy and the like to ram Amnesty down our throats this summer among many other unsavory misdeeds. Rudy is a day late and a dollar short and unelectable and besides I believe him to be very soft on border enforcement with his proposed 'Virtual Fence'. When they rely upon a 'Virtural Fence' around the White House and the Pentagon then maybe I will believe in it but until then, let's build Duncan Hunters 824 mile Real Double Fence from sea to shining sea. WHERE'S THE FENCE?

Dwhitty1 you have hit the nail square on the head! I believe at this point Governor Romney is our best choice. He has a good family back ground and business as well. He is not a radical on any issue but does focus on serious problems such as out of control immigration, pork barrel spending and total lack of common sense in government. Prez., Bush has been such a total disappointment in particular on the immigration problem it really boggles the mind, let's PRAY for the best AMEN! El Lobo

A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain and Huckabee knows it.  That is why he is not withdrawing.  Huckabee might as well be Carter with his "conservative compassion" (socialism) views.  The only chance to keep McCain out is to vote for Romney.  The Republican party has been hijacked by liberals who were able to cross over in the early primaries and give McCain the advantage.  I wonder if McCain has promised Huckabee a spot on his cabinet for not withdrawing and splitting the vote to assure his victory.  All  true conservatives need to think hard about this.

If you would like to talk about people changing their minds maybe we should talk about Mr. Romney and his stance on the Human right to life issue. The problem in our society is that Christian people vote their pocketbook instead of their morals. Mike Huckabee is an upstanding morally correct part of our society. I don't think I can say that about any other candidate including Mitt Romney.

Go ahead and vote for Huckabee and what you will get is McCain. This has nothing to do with the pockietbook, it has to do with the end result.  Then you will have a democrat running with a republican name.  Where are the morals and honesty in that?  I would like to avoid that.  I would hope all those who care about the direction our country goes would like to avoid that too. Please look at the big picture.  We will all be sold down the river with no recourse if we don't make decisions early on to prevent it.

I'm discusted overall with the politics in this country and it's very bleak outlook for the future. We, the people are guilty of allowing our politicians to run wild by not holding them accountable! Our cries for real leadership have fallen on deaf ears. Do we even have a choice?! I no longer believe in this government and I'm not proud of this. It saddens me to see this great Nation deteriorate to the point that it has today. The question is not who are we going to vote for but how are we as a people going to unite to take back this country.

As I see it - the only hope we conservatives have - is to WRITE IN Mitt Romney and pray that he is elected    president!  I don't believe that either McCain or Huckabee can defeat the democrats.  If not Romney, it will be Obama ...
