I'm not sure who these people are supporting Huckabee, but it isn't any of the conservatives I talk to. Huckabee is VERY liberal on illegal immigration, foreign policy, and fiscal conservatism. If you read the National Review endorsment today of Mitt Romney you will see why he is the most conservative candidate who can also beat Hillary. If people like Gilchrist and some evangelical leaders end up nominating Huckabee and then he loses big to Hillary, there will be hell to pay, both from myself and other real conservatives. If Grassfire endorses Huckabee, you can forget any future donations from me.

I am totally conservative and have never voted for a Democrat for President, but if Mike Huckabee is nominated, that will be the first time.  I cannot vote for a bigot.

Amen to davenp35.  Huckster doesn't have any credentials to tout on illegal immigration.  This whole love-fest came out of left field.  What's going on at Grassfire?  Of all organizations I belong to, this was the screwiest hard left turn I've ever seen.

When are you going to do a Paul/Clinton matchup?

If the Huckster is getting so much grassroots support, why has he not gotten the fundraising support to show it? Ron Paul has already raised $11 million (all from individuals) for this quarter with a huge fundraising rally on December 16th this coming weekend.

Ron Paul pretty much OWNS the internet for a Republican candidate (even more so than Hillary and Obama on the Democrat side).

Huckabee has Faux News and CNN to thank for propping him up.

Do the people really want another big government, tax and spend neo-conservative? Go look at his record as governor in Arkansas.

I don't buy it.

I think who they possibly are, davenp35, is Huck-a-bee-ers who flooded the poll...they are organized and they do things like that. -- Somewhat in his defense... According to NumbersUSA dot com, he has turned about on immigration but, if folks cannot give Romney a fair shake on his original much better stand on abortion, why should we give Huckabee a pass on his apparent turnabout regards immigration issues. -- I think the man is way grandly socialist (dangerous to Conservatives) compared to many other Conservatives in the race. Just now, I wouldn't vote for either Clinton or Huckabee...I hope that's not what I am faced with next year.

Why does repcon think voting for a Dem is the only alternative to voting for someone he doesn't agree with? I voted the Constitution Party last election and may well do so again. There doesn't seem to be a lot of difference between a Democrat and a Republican now a days! It's about not who can win but about what is right.

Geez...up is down, down is up, black is white...what happened to the people on Grassfire? Duncan Hunter is solid as a rock and flounders and a guy like Huckabee who'd give away the store on the border, not to mention taxes and pardons gets the solid numbers? Just when you think you know someone...until further notice Grassfire, you get none of my dollars.

I'm with davenp35--who exactly were these people??!  Seriously, I DO NOT WANT Huckabee!  Talk about soft on illegal immigration!  His history of pardons and taxes aren't exactly warming the cockles of my heart here either.

If the Republicans want to lose the next election, then by all means, go with Huckabee.  Un.be.lievable.

I consider myself about as conservative as you get.  I am a Christian and I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God's gift of salvation to this world. I also believe that God is the creator of this world and the only creator there is now or has ever been.  That in itself make's me very conservative.  Mike Huckabee is the only one of the canidates that has openly stated that he believes the same.  If our founding fathers were here to cast a vote today I believe with all my being Mike Huckabee would be the man they would choose.  He is my first choice.

Rekab, many of us feel voting Constitution Party is a vote which supports the democrats. Because, there are more from the Right in the CP than from the Left, you see.

I was really behind Tancredo, he's the only one standing with us Americans on the immigration front. But no one else has seemed to be backing him. Although the poll see him on top in that particular category. I never heard of Huckabee, and there is just something I don't particualarly care for. I've been supporting Thompson, but now I don't know if I've done the wrong thing. But I heard yesterday on the radio he is not a big "hoop la" kind of politician. So, maybe in the end. Guilliani is a liberal, so maybe he could be Hillary's VP. I would only vote if I feel the person is the right candidate. At least Thompson has gotten himself some good endorsements.

I am so completely sick of business as usual in Washington. It has become an elitist society whereby the "next administration" simply follows plans laid out for them by the last administration. Seems every pres has to play one-upmanship to top the last one on spending, injustice practices (Ramos and Campean) border security, bombing Afghanistan---compared to upholding Reno and Elian Gonzalez, Ruby Ridge, Waco, bombing aspirin factories.

And they all go along with the Trilateral Commission, The Councill on Foreign Relations, and the Bilderbergers who are the top dog elitist machines running this country. The presidents seem to be their puppets and we are their fools!.

I don't think this poll is at all reliable because it is just not general enough of an audience to meawsure anything.

America is much less than shown as conservative and much more Liberal than this poll would indicate. The difference is large enough to alter the results of head to head matches in the general election.

In a few weeks, we will have some polls that may indicate a little more and in eleven months we will have a poll that has a real basis.

Polls before the election are nothing more than talking points, they are meaningless.

One of the poinbts I am trying to make is to not trust the polls, work hard and harder for your favorite candidate and get him or her nominated, then work to get him or her elected. Then cry is you must at the end of the day or celebrate but thias poll means nothing.

Mitt Romney, I believe, will emarge as the best candidate for the GOP. He is the most Reagan-esque in fiscal and social conservetism. People like to make a big deal about his Mormon faith. To me, that is exactly why I would vote for him, though I am not a Mormon. Mormons have the family and traditional values thing down. The fact that he is a New Englander will help him in the general election as I believe a lot of folks are looking for a break from a string of Southern governors (no offense to anyone). Mitt deserves our support. He is out there fighting the good fight.

OK GrassFire, it is likely this poll was hijacked. So, I wonder what the rest of the results looked like. Can you at GrassFire take a hard look somehow and discover if the hijack theory has any merit?

If huckabee is nominated I'm going to vote independent. What's the point of voting republican if you're getting a fiscal democrat? No thanks.
