My father was in the military.  My adopted father retired with honors from the military.  My nephew has been fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq since 2003 and he currently has 18 months left on his contract.

I support our troops, but the situation Bush weaseled us into is a no win situation. I lived in the middle east & experienced the hatred between the US & Israel in additional to tribal hatred & fighting. This fighting will never end due to our presence in Iraq. We are not fighting against Al Quida but are in the middle of civil war waged by warlords against each other. We have wasted lives & caused lifelong pain & injuries to our surviving combat troops. Iraq lacks leadership but you can bet that US dollars have ended up in their corrupt pockets. This is one crappy country, that is not worth the loss of lives we've endured. We should have left Sadam in power. Just think what good could have been accomplished elsewhere with the money we wastefully spent in Iraq!

My 90 year old WWII D-DAY ( Utah Beach point de Hoc) B-26 Marauder USAF pilot uncle Colonel is ill in the hospital and Schumar would make him even sicker. So I'm glad he probably won't hear about this. He was in the war when Americans supporetd their troops and military leaders. It is no big surprise that these comments were made. The media has always been liberally biased, and the media pushes a liberal agenda. This country will be in major trouble if the liberal Democrats gain control of the White House in '08. As a conservative Christian, I feel that this all falls in the lap of those that would wipe the name of God from this country's legacy. It is despicable when even our governing body of elected officials cannot find it in themselves to stand behind our troops, as they risk their lives to preserve democracy, and our way of life. I am sure that the Vietnam veterans that are still around see this as no new development. The government has always had no problem with lying to those that serve, cutting their medical and other benefits, and forsaking those in the line of fire. I am ashamed of the United States' governing body of phonies. They are there for the money, and no other reason.

Unfortunately, the Democrats have no shame and are willing to lie again and again if they think it will further their power. Also, too many Americans don't keep informed from primary sources. They just listen to the main stream media and believe everything they are fed. I attended the Freedom Concert yesterday in New Jersey and, I have to say, it was great to be among so many who are real patriots. I wish I could believe that they are in the majority in this country.

All of America should read a book by M. Scott Peck,MD called "People of the Lie, The Hope For HealingHuman Evil." This is the democratic party today, just full of evil and lies. We also have to realize that our enemy is watching our US news, all major cable and network stations, taking notes. The Media and the politicans like to say "The American people have the right and need to know." I am shocked that all these men in office can do is attack the man that has been there and has seen the what is happening. What is wrong with these officials that we elected into office! What we need to do is vote all these congressmen to sit on the front lines for a few months and then come back to report to the American people! We can't walk away from this like we did in Korea and Viet Nam! If the war comes over here, God help us all!

These liberal political groups like MoveOn.org have degenerated to the point that they are no longer able to value or even recognize virtue in their fellow man. You either conform to their narrow agenda or suffer their shrill, depraved harrassment. Even worse are our so-called "representatives" in congress. These people think they're in there for their own pleasure and benefit. Even many republicans seem to have little or no backbone when it comes to taking a stand for what the people want and opposing the mainstream liberal agenda. Even when the people (again whom they supposedly represent) speak out on an issue such as illegal immigration, they still hesitate to do the right thing and do it only relunctanly. I know there are still a few good reps in there, but they seem to be the exception. Benjamin Franklin famously said of the government the founding fathers had formed that it was "A Republic, if you can keep it". With reps like these, I wonder if we've come near the end of what we can keep...

From where I sit, when the polititions quit running the war and let the professionals (military) do their job, we will win hands down. Reminds me of Vietnam and a few other wars. Our troops deserve better than what they are getting from Washington so Congress do what you were elected to do (SHUTUP!!!!!!) and get on with real issues of interest (not that Iraq is of interest). We Americans know what we are doing but Washington doesn't. Most of you in Washinton haven't a clue about Islam or terrorism. Do your homework then our guys will come home but with honor and not your kind of honor.
