This issue is not easy to discuss in a few words. It seems to me that our elected officials are simply doing what they do best, pass the buck. If the people (majority) decieded tomorrow that we should bring back the concentration camps most of our elected officials would go along with it. They simply don't have a developed concience. They don't know right from wrong. They are like sheep being lead to slaughter. No one in their right mind dosen't know that abortion is murder period. We live in a , me, myself and I culture. There is no such thing as a woman's right, Period. Women , as well as men don't want to be responsible for their actions. It's as simple as that. Abortion is wrong period.

Sounds like the only honest person in this bunch is Rep. Tancredo. He's the only one giving a straight answer and not beating around the bush like he is trying to appease both sides. The others can't seem to make up their minds whether they are pro-life or pro-choice! He's the only one sticking to the same answers everytime. I wouldn't believe any of the rest of them. They are saying what people want them to say just to get the nominations. Then you know what's going to happen once they are in office....they change back to their prior postitions! They really should give the American people a little bit of credit. We aren't as stupid as they seem to think we are in voting for them! I want to thank Rep. Tancredo for being honest and sticking to his beliefs. He sounds like the kind of person I'd want for President of the United States!

One thing I hate to keep hearing is this cop-out stance about letting each state decide policy concerning abortion. This is an issue every bit as important as the issue of slavery was in the early and mid 19th century. What would have been the result had Lincoln decided to take the spineless approach to slavery as I hear people like Giuliani takeing on abortion and a womans right to choose to murder a human being? What would be his excuse for supporting this position? Would he say that slavery was not the same issue? That the nation had to take a unified stance on the issue because it had to protect people that could not protect themselves from the attrocities perpetrated on them by a privaledged few? hmmm... doesn't stand up to scrutiny does it. Women want free choice... they should exercise that choice before getting pregnant. Unwanted pregnancy due to a consensual sexual engagement in this day and age is nothing short than an act of ignorant and irresponsible behaviour and does not give the person the right to commit the unscationed murder of an innocent and defenseless life. It is murder in the 1st degree with special circumstances and should be dealt with as such.

In my opinion, TX Congressman Ron Paul stated perfectly clear, much more clearer than Tancredo ever did on stem cell research funding: " Dr. Paul, yes or no on federal funding. REP. PAUL: Programs like this are not authorized under the Constitution. The trouble with this -- issues like this is in Washington we either prohibit it or subsidize it. MR. MATTHEWS: Right. REP. PAUL: And the market should deal with it and the states should deal with it. MR. MATTHEWS: Okay. That's a no. " It seems like Grassfire or Firesociety has deliberately truncated Congressman Ron Paul reply except the Stem Cell Research statement. It appears to me that four candidates gave consistently pro-life answers in the debate: Brownback, Huckabee, Hunter, and Tancredo. Paul may also be pro-life; however, his answer on embryonic stem cell research was based on the Constitution and states rights, not on a pro-life stance. I am more familiar with Senator Brownback's pro-life record than the other pro-life candidates. He has consistently been pro-life, as evinced by his clash with Senator Specter in 2000 over embryonic stem cell research; his work to support the efforts of Senator Santorum, the chief sponsor of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban of 2003; and many other examples, including his voting record.

I see some of you are thinking about RON PAUL.Before you go too far down that road, check out this "WEB SITE". "SUPREME COURT NEVER AUTHORIZED THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX" .com or .net  whatever!! I didn't particularely care for RON PAUL'S ANSWER!!                                                                                    NEVERON--regardless of how you think about it---THE STATES DO HAVE MORE RIGHT TO DETERMINE  MORE THINGS THAN THE SENATE OR CONGRESS!!            Including-ABORTION!!  ARTICLE "1",SECTION "8" spells out what Congress has THE RIGHT to do to interfere in our lives--AND THEIR IS ONLY 18 AREAS WHERE THEY SHOULD!!They have OVER STEPPED THAT BOUNDRY LONG AGO---BECAUSE WE LET THEM!!!Congress HAS to be told--THAT WE KNOW THIS,AND FOR THEM TO  BACK--OFF!!

Please-everyone-go to the links Charles T. Neighbors cited above to read more about Ron Paul. He has a pro-life attitude that, in today's climate, is necessary for anyone espousing to lead this country. He is AGAINST abortion but recognizes that the legal practice will NEVER end unless the issue is given back to the states to decide.

You can read many of the statements he has made in the House of Representatives by logging onto  http://www.house.gov/paul/index.shtml  = one of the websites Mr. Neighbors kindly provided.

Another website I would encourage all of you to look at is www.opensecrets.org

This website allows you to see all kinds of information about Congressmen/women in various elections. You will find that Ron Paul received over 97% in INDIVIDUAL contributions in the 2006 campaign rather than special interest groups or lobby's. His Democrat counterpart recevied most of his funding from UNIONS.

We Americans are still quite a very primitive archaic clannish culture when our poor troops are tragically dying daily by the dozens in Iraq and we citizens have the selfish conceited arrogance, audaciousness and phoney baloney religious self righteousness to condemn and prevent other women from deciding their own personal critical life decisions when pregnant in various life circumstances!!!! People for Pro-Choice are just as "Pro-Life" as anyone else in this country and also Pro-Civil Freedom and Liberty in addition to that!!!!

Personally, I would never vote for someone who claims to hate abortion in all its forms, but would support someone for wanting to have an abortion.  Double talk, double standard.  That is the hypocrisy!!  Hint, hint.....if it's an abomination to your personal conscience, it's wrong no matter what.  Where are the real men and women who will say "abortion should not be allowed, nor federally or state funded."  I do not want my tax dollars to be allocated to this.

From the source:

"The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty. My professional and legislative record demonstrates my strong commitment to this pro-life principle.

In 40 years of medical practice, I never once considered performing an abortion, nor did I ever find abortion necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman.

In Congress, I have authored legislation that seeks to define life as beginning at conception, HR 1094.

I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life. This is a practical, direct approach to ending federal court tyranny which threatens our constitutional republic and has caused the deaths of 45 million of the unborn.

I have also authored HR 1095, which prevents federal funds to be used for so-called “population control.”

Many talk about being pro-life. I have taken direct action to restore protection for the unborn.

As an OB/GYN doctor, I’ve delivered over 4,000 babies. That experience has made me an unshakable foe of abortion. Many of you may have read my book, Challenge To Liberty, which champions the idea that there cannot be liberty in a society unless the rights of all innocents are protected. Much can be understood about the civility of a society in observing its regard for the dignity of human life. "
