This is amnesty no matter how you look at it, and what is to guarantee that the people that wander into our country will pay any of the fees?  They will live here, work, and collect every benefit that they can.  What part of 'THIS IS OUR COUNTRY AND WE DON'T WANT THEM' do the Bush and buddies group not understand???  I'm thinking they are waiting for the Americans to get so numb over this that they give up!  The fact is, this is just making us more determined to get them out!  I'm sick of all of their tactics!  Bush is just going to try to keep shoving it down our throats!

Donate to the Tom Tancredo campaign and get him elected President!  He is our only hope!  Perhaps we could get him and Ron Paul to run on the same ticket?  Remember to join the March for America!  Want to show them how we feel? Be there!  Donate to the Traitor John Campaign!

I am OUTRAGED that this is happening here in "our" country. I go to rallies, do the faxes & petitions, make the phone calls, etc., to our elected officials and it seems for naught. MOST of them DON'T CARE what we Americans want! They have their own agenda for whatever reason. This & the North American Union facing us is like waking up in "The Twilight Zone". This is a nightmare. I'd love to go to the D.C. thing but can't. What more can we patriotic Americans do?

The Dems think the Republicans lost the election of 06 due to the Iraqi war, but I think it was more due to this amnesty BS that anything else. Seems to me that there isn't that much difference between the Dems and the Repubs on this issue. Why is that??? Kinda sounds like Big Business is the one that's really in control of our country. They've got both parties in their pockets and "We The People" get the shaft.

Amnesty is a slap in the face of all Americans wether natural or legalized. Any politican who favors amnesty has turned his/her back on our citizens and hide thier face in shame. Pro amnesty is a no vote for election/re-election in my mind and should be shouted thru out the country.

As a teen in 1967 I made $6/hr in const. labor In 2007 – that job pays upto $7/hr, whereas…AN EQUIVALENT, INFLATION ADJUSTED. WAGE would be NEAR $36/hr ! I can tell you with certainty the 86 AMNESTY of 3MM is largely responsible! Can you imagine the impact an amnesty of 12-20MM will have!

President Bush, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING...get it right this time. NO on AMNESTY [by any name or under any guise] !

This is adding insult to injury....we should really be formulating a national agenda that would deal with the real cause of the illegal immigration problem...MEXICAN CORRUPTION! Around every corner of every Mexican village and city looms a corrupt government offical or worse yet a drug dealer. I am tired of just putting up with this disgusting situation and with this amesty we would be enabling the corruption to continue. I am tired of being Mexico's social welfare program, their escape valve. If these people were really enabled to fend for themselves in their own country there would be real change in Mexico. That is why they are undereducated and poor....and that is why they run away. They have no hope for their own homeland...and yet, they wave the Mexican flag? If I was forced to abandon my homeland for the reasons some are doing it for...basic subsistence I would be burning that flag! Wake up Bush! Mexcio needs a jolt of reality and we should stop being in denial of the sad truth. Mexcio needs reform, we do not need immigration reform!

Unfortunately; the "powers that be" together with the apathetic American populace have pre-determined the outcome of this "debate". Our "borders" are completely porous and there is absolutely NO determination from elected officials to change this situation. When you combine this attitude of legislators with an apathetic public ; the end is already a fait acompli.

Sad but true.......

This is just plain wrong.  I am a 63 yr old woman, recently fired from my job due to health related issues and currently trying to get disability.  I pay well over $300 health insurance which really cuts into the social security my husband and I now receive.  We pay for our medical care, it isn't handed to us as an illegal.  As natural born citizens, we are hampered more than ever before while these illegals sneak into our country, get free medical care (and if you don't believe it's free, think again) and now this administration wants to give them a free ride simply because they might make beds, pick fruit or whatever lazy Americans may or may not want to do.   Bush has totally ruined America and if the rest of you keep on allowing him to do it, I hope you have a really good retirement package because you are going to need it.  The Democrats aren't any better if they allow this to happen.  Nov elections mean nothing if this is allowed to pass.  True Americans need to unite in this matter.  Our future is at stake.

Illegals won't have any problem paying the proposed ($2,000 and $8,000) fees to stay in the US.  They'll use the credit cards that Bank of America is already  issuing to them (without social security numbers).  Then they'll default on their credit card payments; just one more way they'll abuse this country.  Call, write and e-mail President Bush and your representatives.  Oh, and if you have an account that with BofA (savings, mortgage, CD), pay those accounts out and close them out and be sure and tell BofA why you're closing them.  If legal American citizens don't take a strong stand right now, we'll soon be living in Northern Mexico (many cities already have sections that look like Mexico City).

Richard Harris, you've hit the nail on the head.  Americans are far too complacent on important issues, including the issue of 12 million illegal Mexicans living in this country.  Our elected officials work for us: we need to let them know where we stand on this issue, and often.

In large part I agree with Richard.  There is more people that will spend a small fortune and the better part of a weekend going to a NASCAR race than will go to a anti-illegal rally.

I believe this is not because anyone in particular is not a well meaning person however they 1. just don't think such a thing as an amnesty like being proposed can happen even though it did in 1986  2. the people most negatively effected typically accept the short end of the stick  3. the overwhelming majority of people have a life that is as comfortable as they are willing to strive for and are content to squeeze as much entertainment (read fulfillment) out of the way things are as they can.  Unfortunately, they don't understand or want to accept that another amnesty makes permanent and possibly steepens (wait until the next recession) the declining standard of living for almost all non-skilled and some semi-skilled workers.

Many economist are arguing that a legalization of all the illegals along with more immigration will be a boost for the economy.  They primarily think this because more money will stay in the U.S. instead of being wired back to Mexico etc. and it will allow for more "traditional commerce", particularly financed activity such as vehicle and residential purchases.

I know a mobile home dealer near Tampa, FL who thinks his business will double within a few years of any of these amnesty/legalized residence plans passes.  He claims there are many mexicans who want to bring their families and thus would seek individual residences in favor of the stereotypical 10 guys to a cottage or trailer routine.  So, I asked him if he favored a residential impact fee be charged for trailers being sold that say charged 10,000 per bedroom to offset school expenses and other growth related issues?  To say he went on a self serving rant is an understatement.  After he finally got his blood pressure below 200 over 100 I suggested that he make all he can because as soon as these folks are legal they will have a wealthy mexican (read dope dealer) front the money to start their own mexican people trailer lot and he will find out the truth about what they are saying about him in spanish then and since they will work for cheaper they will undercut him and even his friends eating with us will buy their trailers from them then just like they have bought toyota pick ups and don't own a stich of clothing made in America.

Okay on to what is important, will Gordon stay out front or will Johnson or Busch make a run in the points standings.  Just think in a few years those great drafting low riders will be running Rockingham and a guy named Pedro with a Mexican Flag sand glassed on his back window will be running Daytona 46 laps off the lead going 46mph in a vintage Caprice that hops 2 feet straight up in the air and plays mariacchi music so loud you cannot hear the Star Spangled Banner being played.  Oh and like at soccer matches now when they do play the Star Spangled Banner the mexicans will boo and hiss the whole time.

If this doesn't sit well with you, you better speak up and stand out by telling businesses using illegal labor why you no longer patronize them, for those of you who are Catholic cut the purse string and let it be known why and most of all be ready to hit the street and force the media to recognize how the rest of us see the issue.

The United States can cease to exist and America will not die.  America is something that cannot be taken from the heart and soul of a person who believes in the freedom and goodness of man.

I shall remain sovereign,

Sovereignman

if this amnesty thing goes through we may as well start calling ourselves North Mexicans because they will completely overun America. there will be no people left in Mexico except for the drug dealers and the elderly or otherwise uncapable of relocating and tourists. you think they are pouring into this country now. you have seen nothing if this plan passes. i would estimate at least 80% of the remaining Mexicans will flow into America like a raging river at the hight of the worst flood ever and claim they were here the whole time. wich in turn will finish depleting our resources and the "middle class" will completely dissappear. We will be as bad off if not worse than Mexico is now. i urge everyone who may read any of these comments after being enraged to call the president, state reps. and sign the petition. if this issue is not enough to enrage you , read about what our own government is doing to our border patrol trying to do their jobs. i only have a "Good Enough Deploma" so i aplogise for any bad grammer

Are the politicians listening to ANY OF US??  I don't think so!

It amazes me that, because of the recent pet food poisoning scare, the powers that be are launching a study to see how many PEOPLE were affected.  It came to light that many destitute and fixed-income or elderly citizens are forced to EAT cat food or dog food because they can afford nothing else.

Just THINK about this for a moment; our elderly citizens have to eat cat and dog food in THIS, the most prosperous nation in the world.  Along with many citizens, MY medical insurance increased from $52/mo to $216/mo.  And, INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF OUR CITIZENS, THE GOVERNMENT IS DECIDING TO AWARD THE FELONY LAW BREAKERS WITH MORE BENEFITS THAN OUR OWN CITIZENS HAVE!!  IT'S OUTRAGEOUS!

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO ORGANIZE AND BAN TOGETHER AND DEMONSTRATE AGAINST THIS CORRUPT GOVERNMENT!?  WHEN?!?  It won't be long before WE are the minority in this country, and then you won't have a say!  It's hard enough NOW to be heard!

SO, here we are, with the government getting ready to provide tens of thousands of ILLEGALS with amnesty, medical care, food stamps and Social Security benefits!!  IS BUSH IN BED WITH MEXICO??  What in Godo's name are they thinking!?  Personally, I'm tired of TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!

Ol' Teddy prolly has less than a fully functioning brain due to excessive drinking, so I understand.  What excuse does BUSH have for backing this ILLEGAL INVASION??

All I can think of is this fine example Bush has shown that he is helpless to control the crossing of our borders, so how does he expect us to believe that he can lead us to Victory in Iraq?!?!  IT SEEMS TO ME HE'S FIGURING HE CAN'T BEAT 'EM , SO HE'S GONNA JOIN 'EM!!

GOD HELP  THIS COUNTRY....'cause the politicians CERTAINLY ARE NOT!!

WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION ARE NON-CITIZENS GUARANTEED ANYTHING WHEN THEY'RE HERE ILLEGALLY??? STOP THE NAFTA HIGHWAY!! STOP NAFTA!!!

I never seem to be astonished at the UN-American stands that our "PRESIDENTE" Bush takes!!  Perhaps if the "rich kid" had seen some of the jungles of the Pacific or some of the mudholes of Europe that we saw to protect his sorry a--, he might have become an American president instead of a "Presidente" !  Of course, he did have a great military plane from which to view the country which he's so busily endeavering to sell out to Mexico......with no hot lead to dodge!!  I Don't recall his having any combat in the Korean "Police Action" or the Vietnam debacle, so can't  think his age made him ineligable  for  those----  But He DID have some impressive family and friends. Simply put, the poor little rich political kid just doesn't understand America at all!!  I can only pray that a forgiving God will protect America until we can find and elect a genuine AMERICAN President...... and there ARE at least TWO promising candidates coming on the political scene....
