Newt Gingrich Interview: FireSociety Exclusive

FireSociety Exclusive: Newt Gingrich Shares His Thoughts On Immigration And The State Of American Political Discourse Newt Gingrich interview audio player: I recently interviewed former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, architect of the 1994 Contract With America, bestselling author, chairman of the Gingrich Group, Fox News commentator, and -- though undeclared -- a strong second or third in many polls for the Republican nomination for President in 2008. This interview is the second in Grassfire.org's ongoing series of discussions ...

Mr. Elliott said it best in this interview, "feels like a breath of fresh air." Its always great when you can sit and listen to someone speak your mind for you. Thank you both.

Thank you for the interview. I am hoping that Newt will throw his hat in the ring and run for the presidency. He has a great chance of winning. Can't imagine Clinton or Obama being our next president. Thank you for the opportunity to speak out. HB

I don't usually get actively involved in elections. I always vote. If Newt Gingrich runs for President I will actively campaign for his election and encourage all who care about conservative issues to do the same. This is the only candidate on either side I could vote for with a clear conscience. We may be voting on the survival of our nation.

Gingrich for President! - He needs to work on getting up to date on Compean and Ramos, but other than that, he sounds like he has common sense solutions to the ILLEGAL takeover of our country. - - By the way, I voted for Bush twice. I think he has been a fairly decent President, up until his politicing to give away our country while in Mexico. I believe he said enough to be impeached for failure to defend the United States and its citizens.

Newt is certainly preferable to McCain or Giulliani, though his notion of sending the illegals home to get a tamper-proof i.d. card comes pretty close to the Pence "step-out-step-back-in" plan, which I think is a sham.  He thinks we need a temporary worker program, but what safeguards does he propose to keep them from having anchor-babies while they're here?  And who's going to make sure they go home when their time is up?  We have an an enormous, poorly monitored welfare state and a huge Latino nation-within-a-nation where they can hide out indefinitely, getting paid under the table.

I would also like to hear Newt explicitly repudiate the North American Union and endorse oldfashioned patriotism, and I'd like to hear him repudiate NAFTA (I know -- dream on).

I was encouraged by his apparent determination to prosecute employers of illegals, and I was glad to hear him mention reminding people that we speak English here.  On the other hand, how do we make that happen?  It's not only the Spanish speakers we have to worrry about.  We have Chinese, Ethiopians, Somalis, Mideast types, et al. -- many of whom have neither the desire nor the intention to learn English.  And we have our own powerful, entrenched culture of political correctness & multiculturalism to overcome.

Finally, somehow we've got to educate a new generation of young people who accept the idea that the American nation and culture are worth fighting for and preserving.

I think that Newt Gingerich offered some solid steps. I have been outraged so long by the indifference to the plight of the three imprisoned agents doing their job. That now, developing a broader scope of action (more inclusive) of all the little things that have let this get out of control, would be a good idea. Employers need to be fiercly fined and bad judges need to be brought to light so that they are not reelected. Cities should be fined for not enforcing the law. One man, Pres. Bush, should not change the entire country, just because he does not want to see what all the other American people can see. (I voted for him) BUT I did not vote for the ruining of our American way of life. Good quote- "truth, justice, and the American way." Newt has some good thoughts here.

Stoping Hillary is not only a must do, it is essential to our freedom, since she is a known socialist. Her thesis at Wellsley University has been locked away. She is in agreement with her mentor Alinsky who is a known activist/socialist. A nice way of saying communist. Hillary Clinton has shown that she is mean and ruthless and cares for no one except power and control. She has escaped any imprionement for her illegal activity with no question. The Clintons never owned a home before they left the Whitehouse and now they are multi-millionaires. That is ok for her but not for average Americans. 47 people died or imprisoned in the wake of the Clinton Presidency. She has stated that she will "TAKE" big oil profits. She has no right to take private firms profits, why would you want to be in business only to give the government your profit. I can't understand why Americans put any faith in her at all. She is an oppressor and very dangerous. She must not be elected to the Presidency.

For me, this was very difficult to listen to, as two speeches were going on at once. Newt Gingrich is the only true conservative candidate, in my opinion, and I hope he runs for president.

I just listened to the Gingrich interview three times. And I've made up my mind that Mr. Bush does NOT have the best interests of the American people at heart. How could any leader loyal to us leave our country's borders dangerously open while spending billions on a war to stop terror far away? It makes no sense! So I'm officially registering my nonconfidence of the war in Iraq and joining with voices that say it's gotta end, and end right now. Until American's borders are sealed and controlled, from illegal immigration and terrorist invasion, I'm not going along with any more of Bush's cockamamie ideas.

This was an inspiring interview. I would like to ask all the canidates in the upcomong interviews about imposing term limitis on the House and Senate. I believe this would eliminate the power struggle, and put people in who actually care about the people in this country. This vote should be up to the people and put on the next presidental ballot, as the congress would not vote it in.

Bush needs to be impeached for failure and unwillingness to secure our borders during his own declared wartime.  Our homeland security is a sham used to take away civil rights and freedoms and invade our personal privacy.  It's pretty clear that it's the Bush Administration's policy behind the prosecution of  our border agents to send a message to all border agents to stand down and not do their job.  It's the Bush Administrations plan to provide amnesty to all illegals; not only hispanics but any other illegals that make it or have made it across our border.  It's the Bush Administrations plan to fund these illegals by providing free educational grants, medicaid, public assistance, food stamps and social security on the backs of our forefathers hard work and at the expense of our children.    Newt has my vote in 2008.

I am so proud of Newt's discussion on this website. I know that the majority of American's will agree with him on all of these subjects discussed. I would also like to see Newt throw his hat in the ring for President and if he does not I would like to see Fred Thompson do this. Fred has a common sense approach to every issue there is and I stronly believe that Fred can be our next President. I would love to hear an interview on here with Fred if at all possible...PSD....P.S. Thank you Mr. Elliot for this interview. It is a "fresh breath of air" for sure.

Being a reigstered Democrat, but certainly not Liberal, I have never been a fan of Mr. Gingrich. But I am delighted to hear his views on Illegal Immigration and can honestly say that if he were to run for President, he will have my vote. I pray that he will continue to get this message out. I will do my part with Grass Roots to do whatever I can to help in this endeaver. SP
