"It is a violation of Border Patrol regulations to go after someone who is fleeing," she said. "The Border Patrol pursuit policy prohibits the pursuit of someone."

Steve,

In the article from the Daily Bulletin.com has a statement posted above. I wonder if they are NOT to chase anyone what is their job? THAT is what I would like for the prosecutor to answer. After seeing the news about the National Guardsmen that had to retreat from 4 armed men entering the US under the dark of night because they are NOT authorized to confront them and this ordeal about the US Border Patrol Agents going to prison I must say we are in a state of affairs that is very dangerous. If the people assigned to protecting our borders can not apprehend, chase nor protect themselves what in hell are they doing there? Why are we wasting tax dollars paying them to sit on their hands while people and drugs and God knows who or what is entering our country? That would be like telling the military to go to war but you can't shoot nor will you have weapons. It is totally insane. Congress and/or the President needs to step up and say enough is enough but most of all the people of this country and those states that border the south need to demand this prosecutor be fired and test the jurors for drug abuse for finding these men guilty. Sorry for the ranting but I am still in shock at both of the stories ( Border patrol agents go to prison) and (National Guardsmen forced to retreat) and wonder where Congress, President Bush and the US Prosecutor's head truly is. Thanks for taking time to read this and I will understand if there is no response.
