Dear Grassfire team,

I really hope you are moved by this tribute that my little sister created. The idea came about when I mentioned to my sister how much Avril Lavigne's "Keep Holding On" song made me think about Jose every time I would hear it. The desperation he must be feeling not knowing what was going on with his case until he read about it in a letter or heard it on the radio and what I would tell him. This song also reminds me of all of the victims of this war on law enforcement and their families who are going through the same thing as we are. What they must be going through and feeling. It is my hope that after listening to it, you will send it to your friends and family.

Thank you,
Patty

I will as always be glad to pass along the link to the video tribute.  I do have a question.  Reportedly, the President has refused to sign off on a pardon basing his reasoning on 'information brought up at trial' and his belief in 'the judicial system'.

What was this alleged information brought out during the trial that keeps these men in jail?  It should be a matter of public record at this point, but I can find nothing on the web besides news reports and speculation.  I would really like to hear what was disclosed at the time of the trial that led the jury to imprison these men.

My prayers continue for all.  I believe that only God himself knows why these men are being jailed and that HE too knows how it will all work out.  In the meantime, patience and faith are what we have to steady ourselves until the day they again walk free.

Patty: Forwarded this touching tribute to my local Sheriff here in Alabama. He appreciates me keeping him informed on the current situation. Will write ASAP; have been busy here lately and forgot. Tell Jose to Keep Holding On as the song says. When he gets to the end of his rope; tie a knot and hang on. Bless you and please keep us informed.
