Day 16--

Hi there! I just returned from a planning meeting for a huge bike rally here in El Paso, Texas, on February the 18th benefiting both my husband, Ignacio and Mr. Compean.

Many of you are wondering how my husband and Mr. Compean are doing on this their 16th day in prison. Each has been moved out of state. The news is not good. I have heard from my husband and since being moved, conditions are worse as he is in general population. I am not sure if Mr. Compean is in general population as well, but I am very concerned for their safety.

Right now he is not fully processed so he can't make a phone call for about another two weeks. Thankfully, one counselor let him make one call to me and sent me the forms to organize a visitation as soon as possible. He didn't sound very good to me. He told me that inmates keep approaching him asking who he is and what he's in for. Most concerning to me is that most of these inmates are Spanish speaking with immigration issues and some are even in for drug possessions!

During our brief conversation, he just asked me to please do all I can to get him to a safer place. My husband is a very calm man, and I'm sure he downplayed his fears so as not to scare me, but for him to ask me to do something like that means something is wrong.

I want to thank the Grassfire team for all you have done and continue to do! You are angels to my family and the Compean's as well. Please keep fighting for my husband and Mr. Compean. We are their voices. I miss him SOOOOO, much and my kids are struggling so. In fact, they will start counseling next week.

I will try my best to keep you all up on what is happening. Keep it up ....We can't thank you enough.

Monica

Monica,

Thank you so much for wanting to communicate DIRECTLY to our Grassfire and Fire Society team members. Please know that it means a great deal to the more than 300,000 citizens from around the nation have mobilized on behalf of your husband and Mr. Compean. Our goal is to continue to work until both families are restored!

May God bless you during this difficult time.

I think the prosecution should be in jail, not these protectors of the US. There was misleading and also with held evidence, and the crimes committed by the 'victim' following the event should have been presented to the jury. If I were on the jury I would contact the judge and ask to change my vote in the verdict - unless all the jurors were his-panic.
