This article was written on 10/16/2006. Almost two years ago. Here's some facts from the UN Security Council's website. This is all general and public information. FACT: France, Russia, USA, China, and Great Britain are PERMANENT members of the UN (Useless Nuisance) Security Council. FACT:They all possess nuclear weapons FACT: India, Pakistan, N. Korea, and Israel have "nukes" outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, although Israel neither confirms or denies their existance. FACT: As of 2004, four of the five PERMANENT members are also the worlds top four weapons exporters. China is ranked seventh FATC: Each PERMANENT member can veto a resolution. Majority does not count. One "nay" vote vetoes the entire resolution. FACT: Ten other members are elected by the General Assembly for two year terms. The current members (as of this writing) are or were: Argentina, Africa, Denmark, Ghana, Greece, Japn, Peru, Qater, Slovakia, and Tanzania. Japan, Germany, Brazil and India demand PERMANENT member seats. Having given you this information, allow me to opine the folowing: The Useless Nuisance said to Kim Jong "ill" "Don't test those missiles". He did!! The UN said, "Don't test that nuclear device." HE did!! The whole world was appalled. Was what? Was appalled and wanted immediate action taken by the Security Council. Immediate was about a week. Relatively fast, in my humble opinion. They met to discuss the plan of action and voted on the outcome. Sanctions(what?) have been in place for 15 years in N. Korea. But, the order of business? More sanctions!! "Tougher ", they said. "Let's pass a resolution", they said. 12 didn't work with Saddam Hussein. Kim Jong "ill", at 5 foot 2 inches tall and probably having a "Napolean complex, (just a guess) is and will be a problem. He has the capabilities to fire missiles into S. Korea. The exchange of gun fire at the DMZ could be just the beginning. The USA has about 30,000 troops within missile range. Harry S. Truman? I'll just mention his name. And as usual, the current administration is being blamed for the situation even though Clinton, Bush "the elder", Reagan, Carter, and Ford did little or nothing. Diplomacy only works if you have someone to be diplomatic with. The "little man" in N. Korea should get a spanking and be sent to his room with no supper or desert. Should air strikes occur if diplomacy doesn't work? Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on your point of view. I'm asking you what you think. Never mind what I think. I'm of the opinion resolutions and sanctions don't work The outcome lurks in the coming days, weeks, months, and years. Follow the Pied Piper down to the river if you think a confrontation is not, at least possible. Sanctions, blockades, and embargoes only hurt the civilian population. Thousands have starved to death in recent years in Korea, while "Ill" still has his fine foods, fine wines, and "Ladies of the evening". Meanwhile, AHMADINEJAD (who?) MAHMOUD lounges in the wings and waits to see the outcome. Nothing happened to N. Korea. More sanctions is all. With MAHMOUD, biological and chemical events are possible. And what happens? More sanctions even thoiugh he's going down the same path as Hussein Obama. I meant Saddam Hussein. It's easy to Tuesday morning quarterback after the Monday night game is over. This game is at half-time and adjustments have to made in the lockerrrom to insure a rout in the second half. If not, the game goes into overtime. No ties. And then....BOOM!!!! Final gun!!! Game over!!! Allow me to squeeze this bit of info in at the end. Hugo says Venezuela will win a seat on the rotating security council against Guatemala. The vote comes today(The day of this writing). The USA backs Guatemala. Hugo has toured the world and spread around a large number or "oil dollars" (thanks to Citco) to bribe his way in. Chavez says he will be the voice of the third world countries and says Washington is waging a dirty war against Venezuela's bid. Chavez has promised to back Iran against sanctions. The rotating seats decided by secret ballot and Venezuela has been there four times. Guatamala? NONE!! But is a leading contributor of troops to the UN peace-keeping missions while Hugo spreads cash around. If money talks, and it usually does, in a silent voice, I might add, Hugo's ambassador will have a new chair to sit in and the worlds in for an episode of the Outer Limits. Opposition leaders to Chavez have said rampant crime, violence, and poverty have been ignored as Hugo bids (bribes) to become seated on the council. A two thirds majority is needed for either candidate. If not?, well, they have to vote again within no certain time frame. Go buy Citco gasoline and contribute to Hugo's funds. Citco should purchase 32 billion dollars worth elsewhere. Apply common sense and logic to understand what the future holds. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar with an IQ OF 150 to see where the world may be headed. Mix Putin in and it's recipe for disaster. Anti- aircraft hardware anyone? It's for sale.
