[article image] Only two weeks ago, I stood at a podium on Capitol Hill and told everyone gathered that many in Congress and the Bush Administration were “playing games with border security--talking a good game of building the fence, while at the same time doing everything in their power to make sure that it is
never built.”

Now our backs are against the wall. At the end of this year all obligations for DHS to build the fence ends, leaving our borders open for invasion.

Worse yet, our next President, be it Obama or McCain are both horribly lax on border security.

This is it. If we are ever to see a real border fence securing our borders, grassroots Americans must respond in force, right now!

A Grassroots Shutdown of Congress—July 9-10

Beginning on July 9, I am calling on ALL members of our team to help me shutdown the switchboards and fax machines in EVERY Congressional office with the simple demand to build the fence as promised!

Please click here to learn more, and to tell me I can count on you to call your Congressman.

I’m tired of being made a fool of by DHS, The President and certain members of Congress who think they can put up substandard fencing and then report with all smiles that they are following the will of the people.

It’s simply not true, and I want them to hear about it from tens of thousands of grassroots Americans who know better.

The double-layered fence that was passed into law is NOT being built, and I want some accountability before it’s too late!

Here’s what I need you to do:

Action Item 1--Call your Congressman on July 9 and 10

Over a two-day period, I want phone lines literally jammed
by grassroots Americans calling and demanding support for
H.R. 4987-- the reinstatement of the original fence mandate!

It is up to us to move this bill forward to the House floor--
not to mention you deserve to know where your
Congressman stands on border security and the double-
layered fence that we’ve been promised.

Click here to access our Congressional phone list and to let me know that I can count on you to call you Representative.

If your Congressman’s name is bolded on our list, he is a co-sponsor of H.R. 4987. Call him and thank him for his support!

Action Item 2--Schedule Your Personalized Faxes!

In addition to shutting down the phones, I want to burn up
        some fax machines as well!

After placing your calls, follow it up by sending
personalized faxes to key members of Congress, including
        your Representative and two Senators.

Click here to schedule your faxes.

If you’d rather not use our convenient faxfire faxing
system, and prefer using your own fax machine, please
click below to download our letters and targets!

Bottom line, I want EVERY member of our team who has been fighting with us for so long to secure our borders to take action with me!

This is truly our last chance to secure our borders and see a real border fence constructed, and I’m counting on you and your friends to make this final push for border security successful!

Rep. Jones is eager to take H.R. 4987 to the House floor, but he must have 100 co-sponsors. Schedule your faxes today and help me rally Congress to support this important legislation.

Click here and take action with me.

Your support is both necessary and appreciated!

I was all gung-ho for the security fence being built ASAP, but my enthusiasm has been dampened somewhat by the conservation issue that was just brought to my attention. The actual border apparently splits one or more wildlife areas, so that if the fence is built on the border the wildlife populations will be split and/or will not be able to migrate and/or will not have sufficient contiguous area to sustain their population. One of these animals is endangered, and that is the ocelot, a dear and beautiful small spotted cat hunted nearly to extinction for its exotic coat. There may be other animals which would be seriously and adversely affected as well. What can anyone tell me about this issue to put my fears to rest?
