Scouts ignore Philly rent deadline

According to WorldNetDaily.com, the Cradle of Liberty Boy Scouts in Philadelphia have ignored a city deadline to pay a $199,999 rent hike or move out of their historic headquarters.

In late October, Grassfire reported that the city was penalizing the Scouts for their anti-gay policies by raising their rent. City solicitor, Romulo Diaz, who is openly gay, said of the Scout’s failure to notify the city, “we will begin looking for alternative tenants that can take over the property June 1, 2008.”

Interestingly, the building in question was actually constructed by the Scouts--with their own money, back in 1928, and then given to the city. In return, the city would charge $1 rent to the Scouts
in perpetuity. The city has apparently reneged on its decades old promise.

After reporting the story and asking Grassfire team members to email and phone Philadelphia city officials, they received about 150,000 Scout-related emails and calls. “We were deluged,” said Terry Phillis, chief information officer for the Mayor.

WND reported that city officials pulled the messages off to protect system integrity!

The City has reneged on a long-held $1 per year lease promise to the Scouts, and ignored the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision affirming the Scouts right to bar homosexuals.

Grassfire is outraged over the city of Philadelphia’s attempt to punish and ultimately destroy the Scouts because of their beliefs, and are asking members of our team to continue to express outrage to city leaders.

Mayor,

If you had a young son, would you entrust him into the care of your City Solicitor? The News is rife with tales of QUEERS (not Gays), who have made a mockery of the sexual desires of this warped portion of Society! It seems that NO ONE is safe from this narrow cross section of the population!

The Boy Scouts have long been a beacon of moral values and upbringing, and has helped countless youths who perhaps lacked a true "Role Model" in their young and formative years. They built a building, WITH THEIR OWN MONEY, and gave it to your city, in return for the unfettered use of the building, for as long as it helped further their cause, for a token sum of $1.00 per year.

You folks should really be ashamed for letting a small group of misfits and malcontents try to disrespect the City's agreement with this fine group of Young Men. I am damn glad that I don't live in your "fair" City!

Wasnt this country based on Majority rules?

So why do we constantly bend over (pun intended) for a degenerate minority?

If you want to deviate, that's fine in the comfort of your own home I could care less what you do. But when you are constantly in my face, attacking my way of life in an attempt to force me and my family to accept your sickness I take offence.

My tolerance level goes down the more you poke me, on the subject of gays attacking long-standing, family, commuity service and patriotic oriented institutions my meter is now pegged in the red zone.

what this means is as far as I am concerned NOTHING these folks has to say is of any interest to me. I find myself in unalterable opposition to all matters concerning gays.

We need to start forcing these folks to shut up and color. Can we find a way to file some counter suits? lets sue the ACLU out of existance.
