Liberals Should Cease And Desist Attacks On General Petreus And Troops

Schumer Bashes Troops, Blames U.S. (listen here)

Gen. Petraeus has just made his long-awaited presentation to Congress on progress on the war in Iraq. As the Gen. stated in his letter to the troops, "we have achieved tactical momentum and wrested the initiative from our enemies in a number of areas of Iraq." However, "we are ... a long way from the goal line." The picture he paints is not bleak but it is not rosy either. Unfortunately, many liberals have taken to harsh, personal attacks on Petraeus. Read Petraeus' letter to the military (.pdf)

MoveOn.org and "General Betray Us"
For example, MoveOn.org is calling him Gen. "Betray Us." MoveON's Eli Pariser said,"If you have a general who is being willfully misleading to the public and the Congress about the state of a military endeavor, that's a big problem." Tom Englehardt of the Nation Institute called Patraeus "the Paris Hilton of generals" and "a vain media darling with almost no credibility." In response, Sen. Cornyn has introduced a resolution condemning MoveOn.org's statements.

Schumer says Iraq success "despite the surge"
MoveOn.org is not alone. Some liberals in Congress have used this occasion as an opportunity to undermine our troops.

Perhaps most outrageous of all were comments last week from Sen. Schumer, who said the violence in Iraq went down "despite the surge," and elaborated by saying it was "the inability of American soldiers" that caused warlords to take matters into their own hands.

Of course, these comments were not covered by the mainstream media. No mention in New York Times. So I wanted to give you the audio and transcript.

Listen to Schumer's comments (40 seconds) by clicking here.

Full quote:
The violence in Anbar has gone down despite the Surge, not because of the Surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from Al Qaeda said to these tribes, "We have to fight Al Qaeda ourselves." It wasn't that the surge brought peace here, it was that the warlords took peace here; created a temporary peace here. And that is because there was noone else there protecting."

Face it! This is who liberals are!  Expecting them NOT to trash the U.S. Military is too far-fetched.  What gags me is that members of the Senate and Congress can do this with impunity and have NO fear of being taken to task for treasonous remarks.  The First Amendment does not allow these cowards to sink our country with their words.  Who in the elected government will take a stand and challenge these people with the appropriate charges?

This makes me sick! They have the nerve (the liberals) to call themselves patriots! Shame on them!!! "the inability of the American soldiers, is what caused the warlords to take matters into their own hands", in my opinion is a disgrace! How dare he say that about our brave men and women over there, one of which is my son, they after all are the one shedding the blood, so that these ungrateful idiots can have freedom of speech. Let's hear some NOISE from our side!!!!! They can take their treasonous comments and shove them up their fourth point of contact! That is a military term. They probably wouldn't know that!
