North American "Framework" Taking Shape As Trilateral Meetings Convene In Canada

On August 20-21, President Bush will join Mexican President Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Harper for the second Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) summit.

"Framework" For A North American "Union"
The SPP is what many believe to be the beginnings of the infrastructure for the North American Union. The SPP’s stated goal is to:

“…Consolidate our action into a North American
framework to confront security and economic challenges,
and promote the full potential of our people, addressing
disparities and increasing opportunities for all.”

While our government claims the SPP is a "dialogue" and not a treaty or a formal agreement, this tri-lateral arrangement already has resulted in regulatory changes and open borders initiatives that clearly undermine our sovereignty.

From the U.S. side, cabinet leaders such as Secretary of State Rice, Homeland Security Chertoff and Commerce Secretary Gutierrez have been heavily involved and a paper trail of hundreds of pages of U.S. government documents now have been generated in pursuit of the SPP's goals. "Smoking Gun" of Bush's Amnesty Agenda
If you have been scratching your head trying to figure out why Bush has pushed so hard for amnesty, here’s your “smoking gun.” Within a month of taking office, President Bush made his first official visit to another head of state in visiting Mexican President Vicente Fox. From that meeting they announced a goal of a "Partnership for Prosperity."

That same year (and just days before the 9/11 attacks), Fox visited Bush at the White House at which Fox reportedly pressed hard with Bush that all Mexicans in the U.S. be given legal status (i.e. amnesty). Bush made no such promises at that time, but at a press conference, Fox clearly stated his goal: to "make sure that there are no Mexicans who have not entered [the U.S.] legally." Read that line carefully and it is clear that amnesty is the only way to accomplish that goal. Any "Partnership For Prosperity" would have to be linked to amnesty.

Following the 9/11 attacks, the "Partnership for Prosperity" morphed into the "Security and Prosperity Partnership" due to the political necessity of the post-9/11 state of affairs. But remember that Fox had already linked any agreements to amnesty.

In 2005, the SPP was formally launched. Just one year later, Bush began his amnesty push, repeated again in 2007. Thus, it appears the amnesty drive has always been linked to a larger goal -- the North American "framework."

Petition opposing a North American Union
For many months, Grassfire has been closely monitoring the developments of the SPP and the North American "framework." Many team members have asked us to formally challenge these developments with a nationwide petition. With the Bush-Kennedy amnesy battle raging, we determined to stay focused on turning away that imminent threat.

While we remain vigilant in fighting the "amnesty light" proposals now working through Congress, we feel it is time to directly challennge the SPP and the building North American "framework." That is why we are launching a national petition formally opposing these and other efforts to create a North American “framework” and undermine our nation’s sovereignty.

Grasfire wants to rally 100,000 signers before the SPP meetings this month and possibly have them on hand in Canada as part of a building citizen protest against such efforts.
