Senator Brownback wants to protect your children

It was only last year that we were celebrating the President’s signing into law the Broadcast Decency Act--raising the fines against broadcasters for indecency infractions.

On June 4, a federal appeals court tossed out an indecency ruling against Fox television network and broadly questioned whether the FCC has the right to police the airwaves for offensive language.

This outrageous ruling allows Fox to use the f-word and other offensive language during what has traditionally been family viewing hours!

Sam Brownback needs our help

Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), who was the driving force in moving the Broadcast Decency Act of 2006 forward, is today offering up two amendments to the Financial Services Appropriations bill clarifying the broadcast indecency law that is so aggressively under attack by the courts.

One of these amendments would provide the FCC with the tools needed to limit the exposure of children to violent and sexual programming between 6-10 p.m.
Grassfire is asking ALL members of our team to do two very important things:

Action Item #1--Contact your Senators

Please contact your two Senators urging them to support the Brownback amendments to the Financial Services Appropriations bill.

To protect our children from obscene programming during the family viewing hours, Sen. Brownback needs to have the support of key Senators. That is why your call is so important.

Action Item #2—Tell your friends

Grassroots Americans must respond to the courts move to legislate from the bench. They must be brought into check. But we need to rally additional support.

Please send this link to 25-30 friends and family members. Urge them to sign Grassfire’s Broadcast Decency petition by clicking here.

Our goal over the next 30 days is to rally an additional 50,000 signatures in time for our next petition delivery to our nation’s Capitol. Please take immediate action--first by calling your two Senators, and then by forwarding this important message to your friends and family.

Help protect our children from broadcast indecency!
Thank you for you quick response.
