Debate On New Amnesty Bill Will Begin Monday, Final Vote By Next Friday

From the desk of:
Steve Elliott, Grassfire

Ted Kennedy just announced that the a deal has been struck between The White House, Democrats and Republicans on an amnesty bill.

This behind-closed-doors bill clearly is an amnesty bill. 12 million illegals will gain immediate legal status, rights and benefits -- and a path to citizenship.

Even worse -- this back-room deal means no public debate. The Senate will vote on amnesty by next Friday!

Let’s be clear -- they are rushing this through -- without committee deliberations or the normal two to three week time for debate -- in an attempt to avoid public discussion and grassroots pressure.

Don't Be Fooled -- They All Want Amnesty
Don’t be fooled by all the posturing between Harry Reid and some of the amnesty Republicans. For the past few weeks it has looked like Reid and Kennedy have been bickering with the White House and Republicans on the "negotiatied" bill. Word on the street is that Republicans are caving in on some key points. I expect we'll also hear that Dems had to "compromise" as well. Don't believe any of it -- this is mostly political posturing that is providing political cover for their united effort to rush amnesty through the Senate in less than a week! They all want amnesty.

What they don't want is a massive grassroots uprising, which is why they are rushing this through.

Likely timeline of events
Here's what we expect. On Monday, in a procedural move to bypass committee deliberations and the normal two-week markup time, last year's bill will be brought to the floor of the Senate and then immediately replaced wiht this new "negotiated" bill.

By Friday, Reid will push for a final vote so that the Senators can get this done before their Memorial Day break.

Treasonous bastards!

How dare they draft policy without considering the voice of the people--the legal people! I have completely lost what little faith I had in our leadership. Bush should be impeached and the whole lot of 'em should be thrown out on their asses.

The time is now to take action!

It is up to American citizens to protect our land and our sovereignty.
