Grassfire Report 02.13.07

Grassfire petitions on the House floor
Last week we took our “Pardon The Border Agents” petitions back to Capitol Hill, where they were featured on CNN and later C-SPAN during a floor speech by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. Our delivery came the same day it was exposed that Department of Homeland Security investigators had actually lied to Congress about the facts of this case. This was part of an aggressive public relations smear campaign to attack Agents Ramos and Compean.

We are encouraging all our team members to fax the President and other key leaders calling for an immediate pardon as well as a full investigation into the government’s case. If you have not scheduled your faxes, go here.

Barak "Lincoln" Obama?
This past weekend, Barak Hussein Obama formally announced that he is running for President. The announcement was made in Springfield, Illinois, and was replete with parallels between Obama and another tall, gangly, self-made lawyer” from Illinois.

Don’t underestimate Obama. He has an appeal with a generation looking for their “JFK” to lead them to the promised land. He rightly senses
that Americans are ready for something new. And he has the endorsement of, it seems, most of the liberal media. I posted more detailed thoughts on Obama's announcement speech here.

Bringing decency to broadcast ratings
Grassfire's Communications Director, Ron De Jong, and I have also been involved in meetings on Capitol Hill regarding a Grassfire legislative proposal that we believe has real potential. We call it the Broadcast Ratings Decency Act and it is designed to bring some accountability (and decency) to the advertisements that air on TV.

Very conveniently, the broadcasters’ voluntary ratings system does not cover ratings. That’s why it’s not really safe to watch even a “G” rated show with your kids -- even if the show is okay, the ads and the promos often cause you to turn away. We have more meetings this week on Capitol Hill this week. To read our proposal, click here (.pdf).

Finally, we are finalizing arrangements on a major media effort surrounding the imprisoned border agents. I will have details hopefully in the next few days. Stay tuned.

Thanks for standing with Grassfire!

Steve

Go Grassfire ... Go Grassfire!!!

Jersey Guy here. I'm gonna' be frank here. Obama scares the crap out of me. He's mysterious to me. He's got a look, he's got charisma, he says all the right things, but who is he really??? Does anyone know?

I'm all about cleaning up TV, and your Broadcast Ratings Decency Act is straight up common-sense that would give parents just abit more comfort knowing that their kids aren't being blasted with sexual performance ads, and cross-promotional ads featuring violence, sex and other things that simply aren't suitable.

Keep fighting the fight!!!

Now, can anyone tell me who is this Obama guy?

Regarding Obama: I'm not into conspiracy theories, but it's pretty weird how he appeared from nowhere to be on center stage and challenging Hillary for the nomination. Also I read that George Soros is his biggest backer. And Hollywood has joined his bandwagon. Hmmm! Sounds fishy to me.
