Ron Paul on Immigration He Is "Positively Opposed" To Amnesty And Calls For An Economic Solution To The Crisis
Summary: Ron Paul's record reveals a Congressman who has been a leader in the fight to end illegal immigration. He opposed the McCain--Kennedy "Amnesty" immigration bill from its onset and has always spoken against granting amnesty to those who are in the country illegally. Where he differs from other opponents of amnesty is in his view of what needs to be done to solve the immigration crisis. Paul downplays the border fence and instead points to economic factors to solve the crisis. He says the real cause of the crisis is simple economics. Cutting off the welfare and other benefits and changing the economic equation for illegal aliens is the real solution, he says.
Ron Paul is "positively opposed" to amnesty. He belives that if the U.S. eliminate the economic and welfare incentives illegal immigration will decrease.

In a speech on the floor of the House Paul said, " The much-vaunted Senate "compromise"on immigration is a compromise alright: a compromise of our laws, a compromise of our soverignty...that anyone in Washington believes this is a credible approach to solving our immigration crisis suggests hust how out of touch our policial elites really are." Also on the House floor he stated, " If we reward millions who came here illegally, surely millions more will follow suit. Ten years from now we will be in the same position, with a whole new generation of lawbreakers seeking amnesty."
During the GOP Morgan State Forum, Rep. Paul was asked , "Is it even practical to try and sen 12 million illegal immigrants all home?" He responded, "I would not sign a bill like the comprehensive immigration reform, because it would be amnesty. I also think that it's pretty impractical to get an army in this coutnry to round up 12 or maybe 20 million. But I do belive that we have to stick to our guns on obeying the law, and anybody who comes in here illegally shouldn't be rewarded. " Link
Dr. Paul says no to amnesty "And we've talked about amensty, which I'm positively opposed to. If you subsidize something, you get more ot it. We subsidize illegal immigration, we reward it by easy citizenship, wither birthright or amnesty. Source: 2007 GOP debate at Saint Anselm College Jun 3, 2007
Voted YES on reporting illegal aliens who recieve hospital treatment
When asked by John Stossel about what he would do with all of the illegal immigrants, Paul replied, "I don'think anybody could find'em. I don't think anybody knows where they are...But if they come for welfare benefits, and you know they're illegal, deny them the benefits. Get rid of the subsidies." Link
Border Fence -- Supports with some reservations
Ron Paul voter in favor of the Secure Fence Act, calls border security "important," but has raised concerns about the border fence.
•"The fence was my weakest reason for voting for that [ Secure Fence Act], but enforcing the law was important, and border security is important. And we've talked about amensty, which I'm positively opposed to. If you subsidize something, you get more ot it. We subsidize illegal immigration, we reward it by easy citizenship, wither birthright or amnesty. Source: 2007 GOP debate at Saint Anselm College Jun 3, 2007
•"I voted for that bill to stop the amnesty, but I didn't like the fence. I don't think the fence can solve a problem. I find it rather offensive." John Stossel Interview
Website Platform The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:
1) Physically secure our borders and coastlines 2) Enforce visa rules. 3) No Amnesty. 4) No welfare for illegal aliens. 5) End birthright citizenship. 6) Pass true immigration reform.
Ron Paul is what this country needs. Only he has the knowledge, the experience, the policies, and the consistent track record, to be able to save us from the coming financial tsunami. It'll be a Depression that will make the 1929 "Great Depression" look like a Sunday school picnic.
