I think the article is unfair to paint Giuilani as pro amnesty.  As a mayor of a big city, he had to allow illegals free access to the city services, as did other big city mayors. During his term, the INS had no interest in handling the illegals. They are all about putting in your 40, and retireing on the gubmint gravytrain.  Now, illegals are a big deal.  Now, the ICE has to struggle with the problem of uprooting families with jobs and dependents in school. And, several Americans are against just that. Giuliani is right about the border and the data base and the tracking of these people. Let the Congress decide what to do with them. Personally, I desire that they never are allowed to vote. That way, the political parties cannot benefit from any shananigans attached to amnesty. There are 2 points that I want addressed, first, secure the southern border, and then, do what the people want, you and me, not the CFR.  Maybe Giuliani will do just that. Maybe someone else will, but who ? At least, with Giuliani, I am confident the border will be secured, and the data base will be built.  Because he said so. The rest of them are full of crap including Duncan Hunter.

FACTS Please, Just the FACTS:  In Giuliani's defense: 

Our Government gave Amnesty to 800,000 - NOT - 2 million - NOT - but 2.5 to 6 million ILLEGAL ALIENS in 1986.  Just 7 years later, Giuliani was elected Mayor or New York City (1993-2000).  The gap is not that long between the 1986 Amnesty (which continues to be loading up our court system by the ACLU in 2008) and his tenure in office.  In addition, our Government gave 1.3 million green cards to Illegals between 1987 and 1996 and they dwarfed immigration enforcement efforts. According to the new estimates, only 335,000 Illegals were deported or required to leave the whole damned country by the INS between 1987 and 1996.  Giuliani had approximately 450,000 Illegals which he wanted deported, the INS/ICE wouldn't even talk to him; what was he supposed to do with them.

It is unfortunate that Roy Beck from NUMBERSUSA who almost single handedly defeated the AMNESTY bills brought before congress, has taken the path to distorting Giuliani's record; he took the path of least resistance and reported what happened but not the WHY it happened.
