Poll Among Conservatives Shows Positive Trends For November
Huckabee, Thompson, Romney Favored By Increasingly Optimistic Grassroots Conservatives

1/16/07, For Immediate Release. Grassfire.org

Maxwell, IA . Grassroots conservatives are steadily coming back to the Republican Party and focusing on two core issues of the war on terror and immigration, according to a new survey released by Grassfire.org.

The nation's largest statistically valid survey of grassroots conservatives has found that 78% are now affiliating with the G.O.P., up 3% from December and 8% since September. In addition, grassroots conservataives overwhelmingly pick the war on terror and immigration as their two top issues and support for the war in Iraq continues to climb. "An increasingly positive view on the war, a clarity of key issues and stronger distinctions between the two major parties seem to be bringing conservatives back to the G.O.P. tent," says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org. "The base isn't fully home yet, but the trend lines should be encouraging.

Thompson Shows Recovery, Most Trusted On Immigration
The poll , which was taken during the three days leading up to the New Hampshire primary, also found that Fred Thompson has recovered some of the overall support he lost last spring. "This marks a strong potential for a swing in Thompson's favor, but the South Carolina primary will likely decide whether this increase grows or quickly dissipates," says Elliott. Thompson along with Huckabee and Romney are receiving the most support among grassroots conservatives, according to the poll. All three top the poll in support in the primaries and support in the general election.

Thompson is also the most trusted on the issue of immigration, according to those surveyed. ON the question of which candidate they can trust to actually secure the borders if elected president, Thompson (35%) finished first ahead of Hucakbee by seven percentage points.

Other key findings:

•Giuliani no longer expected to win: Not surprisingly, conservatives no longer expect Giuliani to win and now expect Huckabee to prevail.

Giuliani and McCain least liked by conservatives.

•Romney's immigration stand is strengthening, according to conservatives.

Iraq war support continues to rebound. Support for “staying the course” in Iraq increased from 64% to 67% in one month and is up from 58% in Septemberwhile the precentage of conservatives calling for a withdrawal (13%) is down four percent from December and 9% from September.

Isn't this 2008 ?  At first I thought I was reading an old article.

My personal opinion of these polls is either polls just are not accurate, or you voters are indeed a fickle lot.  From the donks race I find that many Americans want a change, a new face, no particular plan or philosophy, but something new.  I hope jerks like that don't vote. This isn't for the next pop star, this is for the noble position of President of the United States. This race should be between the best possible executives focused on the issues of the day and the issues of the people.  Immigration isn't even an issue among the donks. They are all for passing out citizenship to everyone. They do not or should I say can not fathom the burden of this policy upon the Social Security fund. They felt the same when they gave away American business free to the world. When do we get something from someone else ?  Never, yet the donks promise global healthcare...come one, come all....feed at the trough. Some people are stupid. Being generous is a virtue, but giving away that which is not yours to give is criminal. The donks border on such criminality. They cover their waste of our money with bills and laws which spend without regard of necessity and without regard for the health of the wealth of this nation. Those of us who know this call ourselves conservatives, and we have waged a war against the donks over this kind of crap for decades. Which brings us up to this coming election. We can't afford any more 'W's in the oval office. We can't afford any more sweet talking good ole boys who just want to be loved in the oval office. We can't afford any more feel good laws or bullshit like hate crimes and affirmative action, which are unconstitutional, and would be ruled such if we had honest Supreme Court Judges instead of political stooges.

Having said all that, I realize the reason we all don't see it that way is our first enemy, the Main Stream Media, the MSM.  As free men we all must separate ourselves from any media influence. The media want a weak poosy for president. The media hate a strong man except when he is a Communist dictator or an Islamic extremist. Then, they have no problem, just praise.

Truthfully, so many of our fellow citizens have already sold us out that I have little hope of recovering. Instead of the leader we need, we will pick a man who has been purchased and moves his mouth as directed by his hidden masters. The Wizard of Oz has taught us nothing.
