This is something we all have a stake in, because its a good bill , the speaker of the house doesn't want to bring it to the floor of the House of Representatives, she has decided to stall any legislation until after the 2008 elections hoping to gain democratic seats in the House.

There is a Bill, HR 3494, the Charlie Norwood CLEAR ACT of 2007, introduced by Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) that would implement a system for identifying and removing violent criminal illegal aliens, and would deny certain Federal funds to "sanctuary cities" that protect violent criminal aliens. Clear was originally sponsored by the late congressman Charlie Norwood from Georgia.

The CLEAR ACT would provide additional training and funding to local police to help current immigration laws. Allowing thousands of local law enforcment to apprehend criminal aliens they encounter during the performance of their duties, there jobs would do much to enhance the security of our nation. We cannot allow our countries vast interior to become a free zone for illegal aliens who slip across our borders. This legislation would:

* Require DHS to take an illegal alien into custody within 48 hours.

*Affirm that State and local law enforcement officials have existing authority to assist in enforcing immigration law during the course of their routine duties.

* Would deny State Criminal Alien Assistance Program Funding to "sanctuary cities" that refuse to assist with immigration enforcment.

We all know why the Speaker of the House would refuse to bring this legislation to the floor, all we have to do is look at San Francisco, her home town and one of the biggest "sanctuary cities" in the country.
