Many of you know me, some do not. I am Sean Ivy, Editor for Fire Society, and also the Forum Administrator.

I have been slacking in my duties.

I have not attended the Submitted items folder in some time.
I have not read the forums as I should have.
I have not kept up with the news as I should.
I have not read my email with the frequency I should have.

Because of this, I am submitting an official apology for my lack of actions these past few weeks. Here are a few things I'd like to do to rectify this issue.

1) The Community cannot flourish if anyone can run around helter-skelter without repercussion. Because of this, I'd like to look into instating some community moderators to assist me with the job of watching the forums. These individuals would have the ability to warn members about there actions, then bring issues directly to me for further action. Any warnings these members give WILL be considered the written warning preceeding a temporary or permanent Ban. Anyone wishing to become a Community Moderator should email editor@firesociety.com with the Subject 'CM-Application'.

In the email please post your email, user name, and why you would like to assist with this.

2) Bloggers - Fire Society is looking for people to actively Blog on the Site as well. This is unfortunately an issue I haven't looked into even though there is a place for it on the site. I have a few people in mind for 'official Fire Society bloggers' please check your email for an upcoming invitation from me. Most of the bloggers will be people I have recieved at least 2 well written articles from.

3) I will be working over the next few days to clear out the submitted items folder. It has grown quite large and because of this I'll be working fast. I may not be able to send Private Messages to everyone I reject, so please note that most times an article is rejected because it is too short.

There is a 400 word minimum on articles and if an article does not meet that, it is typically rejected. If you recieve an article back to your drafts folder that meets the 400 word minimum and there are other issues, then you *will* receive a Private Message stating what needs to be changed. An article will also be immediately rejected if it is written IN ALL CAPS, or in all bold font.

Because of the number of articles, I do not want to just dump all of them on the community at once, so I will be publishing only 5 per day until the folder is cleared, this will give me the oportunity to make sure that each published article is complete, and has the appropriate graphics, as well as giving the writers the ability to be read.

Again, I apologize for my lack of actions recently and I commit to become more active and work to improve the community as best I can. I ask that you help hold me accountable to this as well, in working with me to grow Fire Society and it's community.

Hey Sean....I thought you were on vacation or something out of the ordinary. We need you, buddy. I knew you weren't around when a few articles weren't posted for a long time. Most sites with this volume have moderators. They could keep the disputatious individuals in check. Phrases like, "Get your head out of the sand", "Open your eyes", "you're stupid", etc. have no place in intelligent discussions and forums. The petty bickering and argument over moot points (and we all know who I'm refering to) has no place on this site. We're supposed to be coming with up solutions to the many possible scenarious that face or will face We, the People, not arguing an opinioin or ram-rodding religious beliefs, political beliefs, or pesonal interpreatations down each other's throats. "Moles" may have entered the site to create chaotic situations. And that's just my assessment of the matter.

"Think American. Buy American. Be American."...JHK
