[article image] For too long now our Judicial System has been decaying to the point where the law benefits the criminals and does NOT protect the inncocent, LAW ABIDING citizen!

I could list more than 70 examples (as I am sure the rest of us could) where the punishment did not fit the crime...not by a HUGE LONGSHOT!

Too often Violent Criminals are getting away with murder...literally! They cause the worst offences, do un-toled damage to victems and families and then laugh and spit in our faces as they are sentenced to mere slaps on the wrist! Well I say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Why should we be the ones afriad of living our lives in a relativly safe society while the criminals have been dealt a free license to commit offences against us?

Why should we be afraid to have our children enjoy the freedoms we enjoyed as children withour fear of being obducted by some sick child molester who was pawned off on us by our judicial system do to a stupid technicality or because we are forced to recognize "their civil rights"?

As a father...I am furious that I have living within a 3-5 mile radius at least 20 registered sex offenders! This is absurd and it must be stopped!

I want to see the following:

  • An overhaul on our laws to weed out the redundant laws that contridict or repeat laws that cannot be feasibly enforced by our courts
  • A revision of our laws to clean up what is currently there and be able to adjust those laws to be more harsher on the criminal (mainly violent, repeat and sexual offenders)
  • To create laws and enforce the new laws to allow the police the freedom and equipment they need to combat all the most violent or any street gang for that matter with the most effect methods
  • Create laws that will state that no sexual predator... registered or not may live in any community unless it is an Adult Only community with strict continuous survallence
  • No laws shall be passed in these areas unless the voters have final say at the polls so we know exatly what is going into those laws and that they are truly in our best interest as a society
  • Last but not least...streamline the Death Penelty and make justice finally work!

I hope that I am not the only one who feels this way and would like to see our system finally protect us as law abiding citizens instead of protecting the "rights" of the criminals who prey upon society with no care or regard for any one.

Our society as lost touch with reality when convicted sexual offenders receive less punishment than the individuals assigned to protect us. Studies have been conducted as far back as the 1970's regarding the rehabilitation potential of sexual offenders. These studies have shown inconclusively that NO rehabilitation potential exists. Once they offend, they will repeat thier crimes, usually escalateing over time. As adults we have a responsibility to protect those who can not protect themselves. You can bet if one of these horrible crimes occured to politicians in HIGH places, some kind of legislation would be introduced and laws would change. Our current legal system is going to drive individuals to take matters into thier own hands. I am willing to do what ever it takes to help change this, I just don't know where to start. Can someone give me some information or suggestions?

Terie,

Thank you so much for replying to my article...you are correct about your two statements in that no sexual offender can ever be cured and that the only true and necessary action that needs to happen will not take place until this kind of tragedy happens to those in charge of our laws.  This is unfortunate but true.

The only thing I can suggest is that we keep posting our concerns and bringing more and more people together to stand up for what we think is right.  Only then will we take our country back and bring into frutation the laws that really mean the most to us common citizens...regardless of race, religon or color.  We all believe that freedom is our most important commodity, that bad people who harm and prey on others need to punished with the most severe of penelties and not just given slaps on the wrist.

Thank you again for the comments on my post and just pass it around and let us try and get this as a peteition for everyone to sign and brought to Washington for true action that cannot be ignored.

Take care,

Laurence
