Background:
HR418, also known as the Real ID Act of 2005 was passed by Congress and is set to be implemented in 2009. Federal Requirements will force states to include certain information on their IDs as well as in a magnetic strip included on the ID.

Those states that do not comply can still issue 'non-compliant' IDs, however individuals without the standardized IDs will not be able to ride buses, trains or airlines without a federally standardized ID. You will not be able to enter a federal building or courthouse without one. You cannot carry-on banking transactions, and much more.

This Petition States:
I am a citizen of the United States and I hereby request that Congress refuse to implement the Real ID Act. I also believe that Congress should pass a resolution to repeal the Real ID Act of 2005.

Why in the blazes does Congress want to make our lives even harder?

True, this may be a good way to keep out illegals, but it also penalizes US Citizens.
