Background:
Congress limited the office of President to two, four year terms. Eight years, assuming re-election is won for second term. I have no background or web sources for people to go to because I haven't seen any web-sites dealing with this issue. However, I believe it is time to limit congress to these same conditions.

This Petition States:
We, the People, in order to get back to a more perfect union, and a government of the People, by the People, and for the People, demand the same term limitations on Congressional representives in the Senate and House that apply to the office of President. We further call for members who have been in office for 20 years or more to resign at the end of their current term of office.

This is something that has bugged me ever since I learned of the discrepancy between the offices of Senator or Representative and President.  Too many of these Senators/Representatives are firmly entrenched, and their constituencies just keep voting for them because they've "always been in office."  Thank you for making this petition!

I joined this to help fight for the reduction of taxes and government, as a whole. I agree in term limitations but have to see reality. We are asking congress to limit the time they have at their jobs. If they do allow a bill on the floor for a vote, they WILL put in a grandfather clause to protect those already in office. I can see a 2 term rule for the senate as they have 6 year terms. If they can't get done what they set out to do in 12 years, they need to find another job, anyway. For the house, I think they might need a  little more time. They only get 2 year terms which means the house would be full a "lame ducks". You can't get anything done in congress with-in 4 years. It just can't happen. I have to show my reality side though I did sign the petition.
