[article image] Agent Ramos Assaulted By Four Mexican Nationals In Prison

UPDATED 2/15/07
I spoke today with Joe Loya, Ignacio Ramos' father-in-law, who visited Nacho with Monica on Monday. Joe told me that Nacho had bruises across his torso, his chest and his back. Same was true of his legs. Nacho was still having headaches from receiving multiple kicks and punches to the head. Joe confirmed that it took four days before Nacho received medical treatment. Joe says prison officials would neither confirm nor deny that the Spanish-speaking assailants were illegal aliens. --Steve Elliott, Grassfire

POSTING OF 2/12/07

Congressman Tom Tancredo reports that during his trip to visit Agent Ramos, the injuries were "more seriously than have been reported." According to Tancredo:

When I saw Ramos, I was literally astonished at the extent of the injuries on his body. Prison officials have been describing his injuries all week as "minor," but that clearly is not true.

In fact, Agent Ramos' bruises are deep and severe. His arm, chest and back are black and blue with broken blood vessels on his arm. Truthfully, it was a terrible sight.

Here's what Ramos told me directly. He was assaulted Saturday night by roughly a half-dozen inmates who recognized him from an episode of a TV show that aired shortly before 10 p.m. He was pulled from his cell, which remains unlocked until midnight.

The attackers, who were wearing steel-toed boots, kicked Ramos repeatedly. He did not get to see a doctor until WEDNESDAY, FOUR DAYS AFTER THE BEATING!

Prison official moved Ramos to a special cell in near-solitary confinement, andI am working to get him transferred to a safer facility. Representatives of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, of California, visited Yazoo Prison with me yesterday. When we asked to see photographs of Ramos as he appeared immediately after the beating, prison officials refused.

ORIGINAL POSTING of 2/5/07, UPDATED SUBSEQUENTLY

Grassfire.org has learned that imprisoned Border Patrol agent Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos has been assaulted in prison by as many as 5 other inmates -- news confirmed by three family members.

The assault occurred at 10:00pm Saturday night (2/3), apparentely following the airing of America's Most Wanted. According to Ramos' uncle:

"Nacho was assaulted Saturday night around 2200 by about five illegal immigrants. He has multiple and severe injuries. They put him in Isolation for now, he has not been allowed to see a doctor since Saturday. They were yelling at him in Spanish, Maten a la migra. which means kill the Border Patrol Agent."

Another family member said Nacho was attacked after he fell asleep Saturday night. Assaulters went after him with repeated blows and kicks. Ramos suffered wounds to his back, shoulder, arms and head. There is concern that Agent Ramos was not given medical treatment after the incident and may not have received medical attention for up to 48 hours. An investigation is expected to be launched Tuesday.

This is precisely the concern Mrs. Monica Ramos expressed in her FireSociety blog entry.

"Ignatio Ramos has been wrongly convicted and now put in harm's way in a prison known to harbor illegal alien drug runners," said Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. "This is beyond an outrage. Our president must take action immediately to pardon these agents."

UPDATE 2/6--Grassfire has been in contact with the Ramos family who are still waiting for further details on the condition of Nacho Ramos and a possible investigation initiated from members of Congress. We have heard reports that the White House switchboard has been flooded with calls. Keep it up!

This is so flippin wrong. Steel Toed Boots in a Prison after hours when all doors should have been locked down....

Who let or gave out the boots on the inside?

Who opened the cell door to give 5 Illegals access?

Why the delayed Medical attenion? If it were an Illegal injured he would be sueing by now and have all sorts of legal aid at hand.

Why? Possibly in hopes of putting an end to the truth about what the hell is really going on.

The Sell Out of America by a Goverment that has big plans for something that True Americans wont Stand For.

Get these guys out and wake up before it is too late.

This is total b/s in many different ways.. It seems Nacho was put in this prison with illegals and drug dealers on purpose. Steel toe boots? Who the heck wears or even has access to steel toe boots in a prison? I wasn't even allowed to wear them in high school! I pray that Nacho gets the medical attention he needs and justice on those who made him a political prisoner
